The Young and the Restless‘ Theo Vanderway discovered that he was an honorary Abbott (thanks to his mother, Dina’s affair with Stuart Brooks and subsequent marriage to Abbott patriarch, John) but then he scuttled his chances of gaining full acceptance into the family and left town. Win some, lose some. But actor Tyler Johnson is certainly a winner today.
Happy Birthday, Tyler Johnson
And that’s because he was born on August 13, 1986, in Washington, D.C., which means that this talented actor is turning 37 years old today! In his childhood, Johnson was sure that he wanted to become an actor. He appeared in a number of commercials and he spent four months starring in the theatrical production Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All For You.
But when he started high school, Johnson questioned his desire to pursue a career in the performing arts. Post-graduation, he accepted a scholarship to Penn State where he studied finance.
A chance meeting with a friend of his father’s resulted in Johnson landing multiple ad campaigns with Abercrombie and Fitch. Sessions with photographers for Italian Vogue and VMAN followed, but Johnson continued to harbor a desire to act.
He landed a role in the independent film Gardener of Eden and the flick allowed Johnson to get his foot in the show business door. Subsequently, he appeared in episodes of 30 Rock, as well as Gossip Girl, Sherri, The Killing, Chasing Life, and Notorious. He also had roles in features such as Men in Black 3, The Waterman, and Afterburn/Aftershock.
Johnson’s other acting credits include the TV movies The Bachelor Next Door and Psycho Stripper, and films such as Adopted in Danger and The Haunting of Sharon Tate. He played YR’s Theo Vanderway from 2019 – 2021.
