The Young and the Restless Needs Kyle and Summer Full Time

Summer Newman Abbott and Kyle Abbott on The Young and the Restless
 Comments

The Young and the Restless fans loved seeing Kyle Abbott and Summer Newman Abbott in storylines this week. Sure, they hated hearing that the couple got married off-screen, but they loved the scenes with Michael Mealor and Hunter King.

The Young and the Restless Fail

While it’s exciting to have Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) back, it makes us miss Summer and Kyle even more. It seems Genoa City’s younger generation shrank a lot this year when Lola (Sasha Calle) and Theo (Tyler Johnson) left, followed shortly after by Summer and then Kyle.

Seeing them this week made us realize how much we miss seeing them full-time. The newlyweds appear deeply in love, and they’re enjoying their life overseas. However, viewers spent years investing in Kyle and Summer’s relationship. Now that they’re married and raising Harrison (Kellen Enriquez) together, fans don’t get the satisfaction of a payoff with this couple.

Plus, with Harrison, there’s plenty of opportunity for drama between these two. We envision storylines showing them learning to balance work with family life. We want to see their story play out onscreen instead of merely hearing about them occasionally and having them pop up during big occasions.

Work Out The Contracts ASAP

Those in charge at The Young and the Restless must work out contract negotiations with Mealor and King as soon as possible. The shrunken younger set of adults needs more engaging storylines that make sense. We think Kyle and Summer’s stories need to be part of that. These two are legacy characters, and they should be part of creating the next generation in Genoa City.

How do you feel about these two being off contract right now? Let us know in the comments below. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
