Soap Hub Performer of the Week for Y&R: Peter Bergman

The Young and the Restless viewers know that Jack Abbott will do a lot to live up to the example that his dad, John Abbott, set for him. This week, Jack searched for answers after learning Keemo had died, and he dealt with some painful emotions living through his regrets. For his performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R is presented to Jack’s portrayer, Peter Bergman.

Peter Bergman — Performer of the Week

Although his father (the late Jerry Douglas) meant so much to him, Jack hasn’t ever been able to be there as a full-time dad for either of his sons — Keemo Abbott (Phillip Moon) and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) — but he’s always tried his best. In some emotional scenes set in Keemo’s home in Los Angeles, Jack learned that his son wrote emotional letters to him that he never sent.

The heartfelt moments left Bergman performing some soliloquies throughout the week while he read through the letters containing Keemo’s words. He had to carry entire scenes himself, and Peter Bergman truly knocked it out of the park with those moments, which should go on his Daytime Emmy reel for 2023.

Again, when Jack realized that Keemo had a daughter named Allie (Kelsey Wang), Bergman had to portray the character’s shock at finding out that not only did Keemo die without them ever reconciling, but also kept his daughter from knowing anything about his dad. He leaned heavily on Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), and the actor did a great job of showing how their long history together helped him during the difficult time in L.A. Bravo Peter Bergman! We look forward to seeing how this storyline plays out.
