A Critic’s Review Of The Young and the Restless: Karma & Switching Teams

When it comes to The Young and the Restless, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of Y&R’s week that was.

The Young and the Restless: The Critic Ponders

How do you solve a problem like Summer (Allison Lanier)? No, seriously, I’m really asking, because I have no idea where the character can go from here.

When the truth about Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) finally does out — and I expect that to happen any day now because why actually ratchet up the tension? — I don’t see Summer and Kyle (Michael Mealor) getting over the hurdle that is her lie of omission — a lie that would have seen his beloved mommy thrown behind bars for the rest of her natural life because….well…because Summer thinks that Diane’s (Susan Walters) just awful and believes that karma is one bad bitch.

And, to top it all off, will then be forced to hear how wronged Diane is and how all her detractors are just petty haters who hate. Ugh. I’m looking forward to that about as much as I’m looking forward to Abby, Abby (Melissa Ordway) of all people being right when it comes to Tucker (Trevor St. John) because, let’s face it, no matter how hard the man tries he’ll always be his own worst enemy.

Further Y&R Musings

* As stirring and no doubt relatable as Mariah’s (Camryn Grimes) and Sharon’s (Sharon Case) chat was, all it did was engender me to yet again decry the fact that neither character is featured in a genuine storyline of her own.

* I’ve never been the biggest Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) fan. For years she seemed to exist solely to hypocritically harp on whichever man had the misfortune of being paired opposite her…and then she outright told Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and her trifling ass self to “Shut up!” I now stand for Elena.

* Victor, Victor, Victor (Eric Braeden)…given how your previous attempts to buy your grandchildren off the women you deem unsuitable have gone, why try the same tactic with Sally (Courtney Hope)?
