It’s been two weeks since Allison Lanier exited her role as Summer on The Young and the Restless. Summer is currently in Italy doing work for Marchetti and will be there a while. When and if Y&R does decide to bring Summer home, these actresses would make the perfect recast.
Chloe Lanier
Chloe Lanier is famous for her role as Nelle on General Hospital. The actress portrayed the young villain from 2016 to 2020, with a guest appearance in 2022. Since her departure from the ABC drama, Lanier has booked other TV gigs. But if she decides to return to the soap world, the role of Summer would be a good start.
Although Summer is considered a heroine, she did her bad girl moments, just like her mom, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford). When Summer returns, the show could tap into her vixen side, something Lanier knows how to play very well.
Ashlyn Pearce
From 2013 to 2015, Ashlyn Pearce played the role of Alexandria “Aly” Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful. Pearce showed her acting range with Aly’s good and dark sides. Since Y&R’s Summer is a combination of heroine/schemer, Pearce would be a good casting choice.
Aside from her acting skills, Pearce’s hair matches that of Y&R’s Stafford, which makes them a believable mother and daughter pair. Pearce worked with many big stars on B&B, and she’d be a pro at working with Y&R legends Eric Braeden and Melody Thomas Scott.
Could Pearce go from being a Forrester to being one of Y&R’s Newmans?
Kristen Alderson
Kristen Alderson’s soap career includes playing Starr on One Life to Live and Kiki on GH. The daytime winner has always been a fan favorite in the soap community. A return to daytime TV in a role like Y&R’s Summer would be huge.
In a 2022 interview with Soap Opera Digest podcast, Alderson revealed she auditioned for the role of Summer after Hunter King left. The actress said working on Y&R and having a scene with Victor (Eric Braeden) is her dream.
Perhaps that dream might become a reality for the star.
