The Bold and the Beautiful, the soap that bravely goes where others don’t, has done it again, scripting a daring erectile dysfunction plot for patriarch Eric Forrester. Watching how the storyline unfolds, and how it affects the newly reunited Quinn Fuller Forrester and Eric’s relationship, will be interesting.

The Bold and the Beautiful’s Reunion Shocker

It’s the perfect twist for the Quinn/Eric reconciliation storyline, and the perfect timing. No sooner did the couple call off their divorce and Quinn (Rena Sofer) ended her red-hot affair with her younger lover Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) to return home to her older husband, than Eric Forrester (John McCook) confessed he was having performance issues. In fact, that was why he’d been keeping Quinn Fuller Forrester at arm’s length before they separated, which led her to look elsewhere for affection.

Bold And Beautiful: What She Left Behind

Considering how satisfied Quinn had been with Carter, the news and situation is bound to affect her marriage. Obviously, Quinn, who truly loves Eric, is determined to support him through this. That’s what a loving wife does. Yet, it’s going to make her miss and maybe even yearn for what she left behind with Carter.

B&B: Feelings of Insecurity

Meanwhile, despite Quinn’s reassurances, Eric may feel insecure and perhaps even inadequate, knowing he can’t fully satisfy his wife. After all, he has to realize the passion she must have shared with the studly Carter. He may start to doubt his ability to ever live up to that.

Timely and Topical on The Bold and the Beautiful

The story is also topical with erectile dysfunction being a common issue for men of a certain age. Watching Eric come to terms with it and, hopefully, work through it will be interesting to watch, and so will Quinn’s reaction to the situation.

Obviously, she’ll want to support and reassure Eric, letting him know that they can get through this together. Yet, she’ll likely be battling inevitable feelings of physical loneliness and perhaps even undesirability. Kudos to The Bold and the Beautiful for diving into the sensitive subject matter. It’s a bold move, and the soap should be applauded for tackling it.
