Soap Opera News — Casting Coups

The Bold and the Beautiful snagged daytime veteran Ted King (ex-Lorenzo and Luis, General Hospital) and Naomi Matsuda (ex-Tori, Days of our Lives) to play Finn’s (Tanner Novlan) parents. Here’s what we know, so far.

The Young and the Restless pulled a fast one on fans, bringing back Abby’s missing husband — only it wasn’t Chance. Instead, Sean Carrigan is back as Ben, AKA Stitch.

Soap Hub chatted with a plethora of stars nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards at a recent industry event. On the DAYS front, Victoria Konefal previewed her return to the soap as Ciara.

Meanwhile, Wally Kurth discussed his heroics as Justin. And Victoria Platt, who is remembered as the baby-snatching Dr. Raynor, shared a secret about co-star Paul Telfer (Xander).

Checking in with GH

General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason) discussed his new pairing and connection with Kelly Thiebaud’s Britt. Meanwhile, Carolyn Hennesy (Diane) talked about the intervention scenes she believes helped earn her a Daytime Emmy nomination.

Alum Jeff Kober raved about the “extraordinary” opportunity of playing the diabolical Cyrus Renault. Co-star and TV sister, Genie Francis, shared her surprise and joy over the soap exploring Laura’s past.

Outstanding Guest Actor nominee, Briana Lane, chatted about stepping in for Amanda Setton as Brook Lynn. And Briana Nicole Henry reflected on her strong year of work as Jordan, a police commissioner hellbent on bringing a crime lord to justice.

Restless Takes

The Young and the Restless’s real-life mom-to-be, Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea), explained the picks for her Daytime Emmy reel and why she’d love to see her TV mom, Catherine Bach (Anita), back on the soap.

Earlier in the week, Michelle Stafford (Phyllis, Y&R) revealed that she’ll be a presenter at last night’s Daytime Emmy ceremony; specifically, doling out the award for Outstanding Culinary Host. Bryton James (Devon) and Brytni Sarpy (Elena) handed out a trophy, and it’s in an acting category.

Ladies Who Lunch

Heather Tom (Katie, B&B) was “hostess with the mostest” at this year’s annual luncheon for the Outstanding Leading Actress nominees in a daytime drama. In fact, she received rave reviews from Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis, GH).

Ask Me Anything

Lamon Archey (Eli, DAYS) opened his Twitter account to fans, asking them to drop questions on him. Plus, check out the clip released on the actor’s new CW drama All American to see how his primetime storyline is heating up.
