Soaps are shutting down production, but they’re still continuing to air during the Coronavirus crisis. Many of your favorite soap stars are reaching out via social media to stay connected with their followers, some offering helpful tips on how to get through this current challenge.
For starters, many of us have seen instances of hoarding. Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis, General Hospital) is urging folks to keep others in mind. “I get that panic has set in,” Grahn tweeted. “Remember, It’s the elderly and those with compromised immune systems that we’re trying to protect. Think of them before you grab items that you don’t really need. Please.”
As many folks are staying in and not going out to eat as they normally may, Days of our Lives star Martha Madison (Belle) suggests a way for you to help keep your favorite restaurants solvent while also helping you in the future.
“If you want to do something meaningful to help your favorite restaurant, go buy a gift card for future use,” Madison posted on Instagram. “They could use the money today, and I’ll bet you could use a fun night out a month from now.”
Jess Walton (Jill, The Young and the Restless) offered her followers a link on Twitter to her husband’s (John James) website which deals with grief recovery. “This blog [which addresses grief and the Coronavirus] is a must read,” Walton tweeted. “My husband and son have dedicated their lives to helping grievers ❤️.”
“Everyone stay healthy,” Finola Hughes (Anna, GH) tweeted. “Practice all the safety measures and look after your near and dear. Never has social media been more valuable. #socialdistancing xx…stay in touch.”
Some soap stars are using social media to simply lighten the mood. John Enos (ex-Bobby, YR) posted a photo on Instagram that pokes a little fun of how protective some people are over toilet paper. “Nobody is getting my TP !!!👊🏽🪓 #corona #heisman,” Enos, a football fan, posted.
Heather Tom (Katie, The Bold and the Beautiful) has likened the way people are coveting toilet paper to a Seinfeld episode in which Elaine found herself needing some while in the ladies’ room, linking to a YouTube clip of the popular sitcom that was about, well, nothing.
James Patrick Stuart (Valentin, GH) has let his followers know that as GH is taking a production hiatus in light of Coronavirus concerns, he’ll be working on another creative endeavor. “While GH takes a break…. I’ll be social distancing…. in my studio. New music coming.”
His former GH co-star, Michelle Stafford (Phyllis, YR), and other actors continue to post fun things about their lives and respective shows during this crisis, but don’t think that they’re not taking the Coronavirus seriously.
“Hey loves,” Stafford posted, “some1 called me ‘vapid’ 4 posting a tweet about #YR 2day. Here’s the thing. I feel it’s my place as an actor 2 imbue life & love into SM [social media]. I’m not a Dr or political expert. I’m an actor. I desire 2 entertain. I’ll let others do the med& political posts. Is that cool?”
