On today’s Bold and the Beautiful episode, Douglas Forrester bid the only true home he’s ever known adieu. It didn’t seem to take much out of him.
In addition, Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) opined that Douglas’s decision will actually benefit him greatly, and Hope (Annika Noelle) and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) bonded mother-to-mother. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
Despite resolving to honor Douglas’s (Henry Joseph Samiri) decision regarding his custodianship, Hope couldn’t help but tear up. Oh, it’s going to be so hard saying goodbye to her precious baby boy. And why, why is she having to do so? Why was she so foolish as to let Douglas choose who he wanted to live with?
Well, Douglas did kind of assure us that we’d be his top choice, reminded Liam (Scott Clifton). Still, he was in agreement with Steffy that all it would take for Douglas to beg to return home would be a few weeks with her and Finn (Tanner Novlan). Hope could but agree.
Before taking his leave of the family abode, Douglas had a few things to say. First, he wanted to thank Hope and Liam for listening to him — he’s just REALLY in want of a break from…well, all of it. Second, he whisper-asked Liam to make sure that Hope wouldn’t be too sad once he was gone. Liam swore that he’s got Douglas covered.

Then it was time for Douglas to issue his love — especially to Mommy — and dole out lots of hugs — again, most especially for Mommy. Hope was super gratified. The only thing that could have possibly topped the love fest was Douglas changing his mind, but that wasn’t about to happen.
Against his better judgment, Eric (John McCook) deigned to see Thomas at Forrester Creations. Thomas was most appreciative, considering his persona non grata status at the company. But what was it he wanted?
Ostensibly, he was there to assure his grandfather that he wanted to make amends — to everybody and anybody that he may have hurt with his actions — which even Eric knew was easier said than done.
Really, Thomas seemed in the market for someone to gloat to. After all, he may not have sole custody of Douglas, but as far as he’s concerned, the boy living with Steffy and Finn is the next best thing.
You think so, wondered Eric. Absolutely, replied Thomas. Of all people, Steffy wouldn’t dare keep him from seeing Douglas. In fact, Thomas expects that he’ll have unfettered access. He’ll just come and go as he pleases, and no one will make a fuss.
Despite himself, Finn agreed to shelter Douglas…for the time being. However, the minute he feels that Douglas’s presence upsets Kelly and Hayes in any way, or if the boy upsets the perfect, preestablished balance of the house, then he and Steffy will have to reevaluate. Steffy wholeheartedly agrees.
Enter the young man in question, alongside a mournful Hope and good trouper Liam. While the men head upstairs to get Douglas nice and settled, Hope grouses to her former rival about their new normal and begs her to both protect Douglas against Thomas and be the kind of mother to him that she’s been lo these many years.
Steffy promises Hope that she’ll care for Douglas as if he were one of her very own and pulls her into a tear-soaked hug.
