The Bold and the Beautiful chooses the best time possible to reintroduce an absent character to the canvas. We’re thinking that the year 2023 is a perfect time to bring back Thorne Forrester, played the longest by actor Winsor Harmon.
As veteran B&B fans recall, the character of Thorne Forrester, the firstborn child of Eric Forrester (John McCook) and his late wife Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery), made his debut in the show’s premiere. Over the years, he’s been played by Clayton Norcross, Jeff Tracta, Winsor Harmon, and Ingo Rademacher.
Harmon, who assumed the role in 1996, played the role the longest; the actor reprised the part earlier this year as part of B&B’s 35th-anniversary episode. Thorne’s appearance in that episode is one of the many reasons he should come back to the canvas.
After Ridge Forrester had dumped Brooke in favor of Taylor Hayes (Krista Allen), Thorne and Brooke began an unlikely but very passionate romance that ended all too abruptly. Thorne overheard Brooke professing her love for Ridge and bowed out of their union.
However, as viewers have seen recently, times change. Brooke’s in a place where she’s re-examining her life. What better time than now to have her take a look at the Forrester that got away? Taylor, likewise, is taking a good, long, hard look at her history with Ridge. She also has a history with Thorne.
There hasn’t been a tremendous focus on Forrester Creations in recent times. Sure, we see everyone working there, and there was a Hope for the Future fashion show. But there was a time when the happenings at Forrester Creations drove story.
The Forresters would unite as they took on competitors, coming together as a family and emerging stronger than ever in the process. Thorne’s an ideal candidate to make sure Forrester survives and thrives the next time a rival fashion house poses a threat to the House of Forrester.
Thorne sure left Los Angeles quickly after he came home to take care of arrangements for his late daughter Aly Forrester (Ashlyn Pearce), who was dealing with some severe emotional issues at the time of her death. Did she truly die? Or did Thorne whisk her off to Europe to help her recover both physically, emotionally, and psychologically? Maybe Thorne doesn’t have to be the only Forrester who makes a return to the canvas in the New Year?
