Soap Hub Performer of the Week for B&B: Katherine Kelly Lang

It was a bit challenging watching Brooke Logan Forrester earlier this year lament her fall off the wagon on The Bold and the Beautiful. Her portrayer, Katherine Kelly Lang, brought determination and decisiveness recently when it came to putting Deacon Sharpe in his place. Soap Hub is bestowing Performer of the Week Honors for B&B on Lang for her recent work.

Last year, when Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) admonished his wife about Deacon’s presence in Hope’s life, she just didn’t listen to him. Brooke thought she had it under control — and she did. Until that is, Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) switched her New Year’s Eve bubbly with the real stuff. We watched Brooke for weeks recount her error, unaware it happened.

As a result, we saw a confused Brooke — not necessarily the powerful heroine we know and love her to be. Recently, Brooke broke Deacon’s (Sean Kanan) heart by telling him he wasn’t welcome in her home anymore. Lang played Brooke as being very firm. She knows what she has to do in order to re-win Ridge’s heart and she’s going to do it.

In the past, we’ve seen Brooke make horrible decisions — accidental sex with Oliver Jones (Zack Grayson), withholding a letter from Ridge to Caroline Spencer (Joanna Johnson), and many other missteps. No matter what position the writers put Brooke in, Katherine Kelly Lang brings heart and conviction to her role. “I should have listened the first 100 times Ridge said,” Brooke explained to Hope Logan Spencer (Annika Noelle), Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton), and to Deacon that her decision was clear. Brooke was firm and Deacon had no choice but to acquiesce to her rule.

As firm as Brooke was in her decision, she did agree to let Deacon plead his case one final time. Katherine Kelly Lang’s Brooke was unaffected by Deacon’s passionate case to remain in his life. Brooke noted that if Deacon truly loved her, he’d stay away. “You said you loved me? Just stay away. Show me the respect you say he doesn’t,” Brooke calmly professed. We can always count on Katherine Kelly Lang to give an impassioned performance especially when it comes to Brooke’s love for Ridge.
