Sure, we knew that Eric Forrester would spring back to life in a Christmas miracle on The Bold and the Beautiful. But, it sure felt good to watch and it gave us all the feels that we expect from a holiday episode. Moving forward, will Eric have a speedy recovery or will it be more of a long and winding road?
Eric (John McCook) was taken off his ventilator and mumbled “Merry Christmas” in the 11th hour. (Refresh your memory of that here.) But, that doesn’t mean he is completely out of the woods. Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) worries if he made the right decision, and that his father won’t be the man he once was.
Finn (Tanner Novlan) is extremely positive about Eric’s ability to make a full recovery from his mysterious illness. Still, Ridge has a hard time seeing his father lying in a hospital bed for an extended amount of time. What if Eric can’t function at 100% as he did before? Can we all adjust to an aging Eric who would need months of rehabilitation?
Donna (Jennifer Gareis) has been nothing less than completely accepting of her honey bear. If only she could cure Eric with a drop of honey on her finger as she did his impotence. Maybe Donna could bring her magic potion in her purse to the hospital to help Eric along and give him a boost.
Surely, Eric will be in a big rush to get back to tip-top shape for his love and finish all those designs in his head. And, soaps always have a way of speeding things along. But, that doesn’t mean we are ready to see Eric playing pickleball by New Year’s.
Watching Eric recuperate a little more in real time could lend believability and richness to the storyline. Maybe Eric could get some more nice moments with Bridget (Ashley Jones), who has been missing from the canvas for a while. Whatever Eric’s recovery winds up looking like, we just hope they don’t push it too fast.
