The Bold and the Beautiful has given its viewers a lot of big gifts this year – namely, the returns of Deacon Sharpe and Sheila Carter to the story canvas. However, the latter being included in Steffy Forrester Finnegan’s family Christmas Eve gathering felt like getting a big lump of coal being left in viewers’ stockings.
The Bold and the Beautiful: Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?
We totally get that Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) needs to exist outside of her hotel room in order to be a presence on the show’s storytelling canvas and stir up trouble. And, we suppose, Finn (Tanner Novlan) didn’t want his mother spending the holidays, always a big deal on B&B, without him. But that’s exactly what he let happen. No, we’re not talking about Sheila but rather his adoptive mother Li Finnegan (Naomi Matsuda). Finn knows that Li is hurting and instead of insisting that she spend the holidays with him and his new family, he let her be alone with his dad Jack Finnegan (Ted King).
Steffy Forrester Finnegan – The Voice of Reason
Thank God for Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood)! It seemed as if she was the only person who had a problem with Sheila being in her home. Hadn’t Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) ever heard the story where Sheila threatened to end his life before he even turned a year old? Steffy reminded both Taylor (Krista Allen) and viewers repeatedly that Sheila shot Taylor. Sheila. Shot. Taylor.
She almost died from injuries and, as a result of her hospitalization, Taylor was kidnapped by Prince Omar (Kabir Bedi) and was kept away from Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) and their kids for years. Sheila may not have robbed Taylor of her life but she took away years that can never be replaced.
The Bold and the Beautiful: Taylor-Made Excuse
Taylor agreed to let Sheila make an appearance on Christmas Eve for a few reasons. As fans of The Bold and the Beautiful know, she’s a forgiving person and she wanted to keep an eye on Sheila, noting that if she was still dangerous, then Taylor would be able to sense it. These two points aren’t particularly strong. For starters, forgiving doesn’t mean forgetting—or trusting that Sheila wouldn’t show up with another weapon, kill everyone, and run off with little Hayes. Why is Steffy the only one who thinks that Sheila is capable still of such behavior when she’s exhibited it in the past?
Taylor didn’t have to choose Christmas Eve to do an evaluation on Sheila. Also, Sheila has never convincingly communicated that she’s capable of change. We’re no legal experts but if there was a restraining order against Sheila, Steffy has most likely invalidated it by welcoming Sheila into her home. Restraining orders aren’t like gift cards — you can’t just use them when you feel like it.

Taylor hasn’t seen Sheila since her return from the dead back in 2005. Their first face-to-face should have been in a totally different setting – perhaps, at a Forrester fashion show or at Eric Forrester’s (John McCook) mansion where Sheila shot both Taylor and Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang). It also should have been a huge confrontation.

Speaking of Eric’s house, why weren’t Steffy, Taylor, Finn, Hayes, and Thomas, — and Li and even Jack for that matter – all present at Eric’s house for Christmas Eve? Steffy’s a champion of reuniting her parents. What better way than to get those wheels in motion than by gathering together for the holidays?
We’re not opposed to folks putting animosities aside for the holidays. Brooke and Quinn Fuller Forrester (Rena Sofer) are great examples of that. The two women will likely never be friends but they agreed to get along during the family get-together. How Taylor could be in the same room with the woman who shot her and robbed her of years of her life with her family definitely qualifies as a Christmas miracle!
It would have been far more believable to have had Deacon (Sean Kanan) be allowed time with his daughter Hope Logan Spencer (Annika Noelle) but Taylor letting Sheila be in the same room as her, her children, and her grandson? What was she thinking? It would have served Sheila right to be alone in her hotel room, plotting revenge. Instead, Santa came through for Sheila – she did get to spend time with Finn and Hayes but if she’d shown up as the woman Steffy believes her to be, Taylor would have had no one to blame but herself.
