The Bold and the Beautiful Critic's Review for February 14-18, 2022
When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of B&B’s week that was.
Before I get into the nitty-gritty of The Bold and the Beautiful’s latest offerings, I must address something troublesome. In response to last week’s column, a viewer took to the comments section and accused me of being one of the worst things imaginable: A fan of the Logan family.
This disgruntled, opinionator not only raked me over the coals for comparing Steffy Forrester Finnegan’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) one-night stand with Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) to Brooke Logan Forrester’s (Katherine Kelly Lang) yearlong affair with Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan), but also insisted that as far as they were concerned, Stephanie Forrester was, “not of sound mind…and most likely unaware of what was happening,” so my saying that her requesting Brooke be by her side as she died was a moot point and not at all indicative of Brooke being capable of committing selfless acts.
Finally, my impartiality and ability to critique The Bold and the Beautiful was called into question because, “It is quite clear you are a Logan fan more than [sic] a BB fan.”
To that, I say that I can take anything and everything on the chin except being called a Logan lover. That’s just an insult too far.
Never, not once in any previous column have I cut for Brooke Logan. Heck, I’ve even had not-so-nice things to say about Donna Logan (Jennifer Gareis) and Katie Logan (Heather Tom) and they’re the nice ones in that family. Do I miss it when these two aren’t on? Sure. Do I think that The Bold and the Beautiful would be a more boring soap without Brooke and her shenanigans? You bet your sweet bippy I do.
But do I like Brooke? Or Donna? Or Katie? Not particularly. If I agree with Steffy about anything, it’s that a Logan will turn on the waterworks and play the victim.
However, I do not, and will not abide The Bold and the Beautiful sweeping everybody else’s dirt under the rug, while airing Brooke’s – or Donna’s or Katie’s.
Case it point: Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) implied on Friday’s episode that his and Taylor Hayes’s (Krista Allen) marriage ended because she was shot by Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) and presumed dead. Not so.
In point of fact, the couple reunited once Taylor escaped Prince Omar’s clutches, and it was the revelation that Taylor had been unfaithful to Ridge with Dr. James Warwick (Ian Buchanan) coupled with her macking on Hector Ramirez (Lorenzo Lamas) that tore them asunder.
If Steffy is going to throw Brooke’s past in her face, it is only fair and just that someone throw Taylor’s in hers. I will be here to do it, every single time. And if that makes me a Logan lover, then so be it.
* Dear Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson), Don’t give Brooke any good ideas, like pushing you off another cliff. She just might take you up on it.
* Leave it to punk Ridge to literally punch and attempt to kick Deacon when he’s distracted and down. Is it any wonder I am no fan of his as well?
