When it comes to Young and the Restless, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of Y&R’s week that was.

The Young and the Restless: A Critic’s Week In Review

Spoiler alert! Something interesting happened on The Young and the Restless. Well, I say something interesting happened on Y&R…it actually happened during the promo for next week’s set of episodes. Keemo Volien Abbott (Phillip Moon) got name-dropped.

Now, do I expect the majority of you to know who that is? Of course not. Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) firstborn hasn’t been onscreen since 1996, and he hasn’t been mentioned but maybe three times since then. In fact, at one point in time, it seemed that Keemo had been retconned out of existence when Jack called Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor his “one and only or his” only son something along those lines But I will be darned if he isn’t being remembered now.

Also, did my eyes deceive me, or did Rory Gibson’s Noah Newman crack a smile? What’s that you say Young and Restless fans? He did, indeed smile…but only upon interrupting Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) and Mariah Copeland’s (Camryn Grimes) Valentine’s Day celebration…yea, that tracks.

Further Y&R Musings

* Full disclosure, I’m a big fan of Robert Newman. However, I am not a big fan of Robert Newman’s take on Ashland Locke. He and Ameilia Heinle have nowhere near the chemistry that she had with Richard Burgi and Newman’s Ashland just gives off serious “bad guy” vibes

* I get it The Young and the Restless, you want me to feel sorry for Rey “I Don’t Feel Like Part Of The Family” Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) so that when he and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) inevitably sleep together and the affair will seem justified. Problem is, I don’t feel sorry for Rey. He’s just coming off as an insecure jerk.

And speaking of forcing couples together, should fans of Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) – and I know they do indeed exist – be worried? It sure seems that way, now that he and Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) will be in close proximity.

* Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) isn’t taking that job in Milan after all. Raise your hand if you’re surprised.
