They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but we wonder what good is a picture when you can’t recognize the subject? Above is a snapshot of a future star of soaps, but can you guess who this Tarzan-channeling youth grew up to be?
Star Of The Soaps
Obviously this young man (now all grown up) is either currently starring in, or is an alum of, one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless – but that’s probably not enough of a hint.
So try these on for size. He fell in love with acting after appearing in a high school theater production. He is a Daytime Emmy Award-winning soap hopper. He is a married man who met his spouse on the set of the sitcom in which he starred. He is also a budding musician who enjoys playing the guitar, bass guitar, and drums.
But just who can he be? Is this a photograph of Darin Brooks (Wyatt Spencer, BB), Kyle Lowder (ex-Brady/Rex, DAYS), Ricky Martin (ex-Miguel Morez, GH), or Tyler Johnson (Theo Vanderway, YR)?
Kyle Lowder
Lowder appeared in numerous theatrical productions staged at Pleasantville High School, his alma mater. And he’s appeared on two daytime soaps – DAYS (where he played both Brady Black and Rex Brady) and BB. But he isn’t the answer to today’s identity query.
Ricky Martin
Aside from his one year stint at GH, Martin was well known for his numerous roles in telenovelas (a type of limited-run, Spanish language serial). And though he did indeed appear in an American sitcom (ABC’s Getting By), he did not meet his husband – artist Jwan Yosef – during the filming. So he isn’t today’s featured star.
Tyler Johnson
And neither is Johnson. Despite his love of performing, Johnson didn’t indulge in the theater program at his high school, and his musical talents are best served on the piano rather than the guitar or drums.
Darin Brooks
Brooks began his acting career by playing Rapunzel’s prince in his high school’s presentation of Into the Woods. Subsequently, he enrolled in acting classes, accepted the opportunity to model, and began appearing in films as an extra.
In 2005, he joined the cast of DAYS in the role of Max Brady and his efforts over the next five years would translate into a Daytime Emmy Award win (in 2009 for Outstanding Younger Actor).
Upon his exit from the soap, Brooks starred in the Spike TV sitcom Blue Mountain State – which served as the setting for his first meeting with Kelly Kruger, his eventual wife.
So if you guessed that the future star of soaps seen in the image above was Darin Brooks – who has been playing Wyatt Spencer on BB since June 21, 2013 – then you were absolutely correct!
