Soap operas and commercials literally go hand in hand – in point of fact, the latter pays for the former. And every once in a while, the two entities merge and a soap star makes their way into an advertisement for a “must-have” product.

Who Is The Soap Star In Question?

All of these actors either portray a character on, or are an alum of, one of the four remaining soaps – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless. But only one of them can boast that they succeeded Fabio as the spokesperson for the I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter spread.

But who can that actor be? Is it Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan Forrester, BB), Greg Vaughn (Eric Brady, DAYS), Jason Cook (ex-Matt Hunter, GH), or Ricky Paull Goldin (ex-Gary Dawson, YR)?

Katherine Kelly Lang

Though she certainly knew Fabio through his work on BB – where he frequently worked opposite Darlene Conley’s Sally Spectra – Lang didn’t follow in the actor’s footsteps as the butter substitute’s advocate.

Had she done so, Lang would have been the second member of her family to be identified with commercials for healthy food alternatives. Her father, Keith Richard Wegeman, served as the human figure for Jolly Green Giant!

Jason Cook

During his reign as DAYS’ Shawn-Douglas, Cook was one of three finalists up for the part previously held by Fabio. However, Cook was not chosen to succeed the brand’s current spokesperson.

Ricky Paull Goldin

Goldin is still probably best remembered for the seven years he spent playing Guiding Light’s Gus Aitoro. But for a brief moment in 2006, he was a candidate for taking over Fabio’s job.

Greg Vaughan

However, that honor was eventually bestowed upon Vaughan – who was, at the time, involved in a major storyline over at ABC’s General Hospital (where he played legacy character, Lucky Spencer). The “torch” was passed from Fabio to Vaughan during a ceremony held in New York on June 7, 2006, and, during the proceedings, the men bonded over their shared love of motorcycles.

So, if you guessed that the soap star in question was Greg Vaughan, then you were absolutely correct!
