Last Friday, the 8000th episode of The Bold and the Beautiful aired. Ironically, or perhaps fittingly, Soap Hub ran into Fabio that day at a Golden Globes event. The hunk was happy to chat with us, recalling his visits to B&B and his friendship with the late great Darlene Conley (ex-Sally).
Fabio’s first trip to the show involved Sally’s bachelorette party in 1993. She was set to marry Jack Hamilton (Chris Robinson) and Sally’s friends and family wanted to send her off in style!
Who better to invite to Sally’s bash than Fabio, who shot to fame as a romance cover-model-turned-celebrity? And since B&B is set in the real-life city of Los Angeles, Fabio was a perfect candidate to appear on the show. A real-life friendship developed between the two.
“[Darlene] was amazing,” Fabio recalls. “A beautiful person. She was an amazing actor but more than that she was a great person. We hung out with each other and became friends. She was such a down-to-earth, beautiful, caring person. Only a few of those come along in our industry [who are like that].”
Veteran B&B fans will remember that when Sally first laid eyes on Fabio, she deadpanned, “Oh, my Fabio. It’s God!” which may have been an ad-lib!

“That was really funny,” Fabio recalls. “Darlene was very spontaneous. She was a great actress. She’d improvise a little bit.”
According to his IMDB page, Fabio made additional appearances on B&B. He and Conley also presented a trophy together on a soap opera awards show.
