Accidents. They can happen at any time to anyone – famous, infamous, or unknown. And accidents sometimes leave behind blunt reminders of their happening — and that happened for one soap star in Las Vegas, of all places.
Which Soap Star Was It?
All of these actors are alums of one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital and The Young and the Restless. But only one of them was left permanently scarred thanks to an accident they experienced why working as a cast member of a Las Vegas revue.
But who can that actor be? Was it Lilly Melgar (ex-Claudia Cortez, BB), Macdonald Carey (ex-Dr. Tom Horton, DAYS), Anthony Geary (ex-Luke Spencer, GH), or Michael Damian (ex-Danny Romalotti, YR)?
Lilly Melgar
Though she never performed in a Las Vegas show, Melgar is certainly familiar with the Entertainment Capital of the World. And it’s all thanks to her work as a director for video content for Ricky Martin’s All In Vegas Residency.
Macdonald Carey
Carey already had a successful stage and radio career when he joined the cast of Lady in the Dark, a pro-psychoanalysis musical that was running on Broadway. His work opposite Gertrude Lawrence, Danny Kaye, and Victor Mature didn’t leave him with a permanent scar, but it did result in his being offered a contract from Paramount Pictures.
Michael Damian
When Damian landed the starring role in the Broadway production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, this soap star’s character – rock star Danny Romalotti – reaped the same benefits.
How else to explain the actor’s sudden exit from the soap after 12 years? But while the production broke box office records, the leading man remained injury (and thus scar) free.
Anthony Geary
The year was 1968. The place Las Vegas. Future GH icon Anthony Geary was a 21-year-old chorus boy working in a stage show starring Sid Caesar and Imogene Coca. A miscalculated dance leap resulted in Geary smashing his face onto the performance area floor and the injury was forever immortalized, thanks to the resulting scar on his chin.
So, if you guessed that the soap star in question was Anthony Geary – the one and only Lucas Lorenzo Spencer – then you were absolutely correct!
