General Hospital alumna Lilly Melgar has suffered a devastating loss. She recently shared her grief with her followers on social media.
Condolences To Lilly Melgar
The actress’s former husband, Robert Monterrosa, has passed away. “I am writing this before actually being ready to …” began Melgar in her Instagram post, “as so many are reaching out. I thank you all for the love and support. I am still processing such a tragic loss. So please bear with me.
“I post some memories throughout our years together … our wedding being one of the happiest … most perfect days of my life …in memory of the man that was my husband … Sofia’s father … a friend for decades … my family .. a man who never truly accepted his brilliance … he was so incredibly gifted …. and now .. he’s gone.
“My only consolation is that his soul is free and in peace. Even though we got divorced in June of 2019 (for those that didn’t know) .. this is an unbearable loss and the pain of acceptance is downright crippling. #RIP Robert Monterrosa. May your soul fly free ♥️.”

Melgar played Lily Rivera Corinthos, the doomed wife of Sonny (Maurice Benard), on GH from 1994 to 1996. After her character was killed off in an explosion meant to take the life of her groom, Melgar hopped over to The Bold and the Beautiful as Claudia Cortez when the half-hour soap shined a light on illegal immigration.
Post-BB, Melgar went on to appear on and be a producer on The Bay where she received a nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Digital Daytime Drama Series. Melgar has won two Daytime Emmys as a producer for The Bay. In 2016, Melgar won the ISA (Independent Series Award) for Best Lead Actress – Drama.
