Kristen DiMera is getting her happy ending on Days of our Lives – being reunited with the daughter she’d been led to believe was dead. But instead of a shot at bliss with baby Rachel and her true love Brady (Eric Martsolf), the DAYS scribes are writing Kristen and actress Stacy Haiduk off the show — and it’s a big mistake.
Where Is the Days of our Lives Payoff?
A quick reunion with Rachel and a family hug with Brady won’t cut it in the payoff department. Kristen and Brady have been put through the wringer, and so have the fans who have stuck with them throughout it all and watched them cry and grieve an unspeakable loss.
The couple was tricked into believing their sweet baby girl had died and, in the process, were forced to endure every parent’s worst nightmare. They deserve more than a brief moment of happy-together time, and, sadly, they’re not going to get it.
Derailed Redemption Tour
The soap had been methodically taking Kristen down a path of redemption after she learned Rachel was “dead.” It started when she sought refuge in a convent and considered joining the nunnery.
She emerged kinder and gentler from the experience. Even Marlena noticed the change in Kristen, making peace with her former nemesis and suggesting they put the past behind them. But all the progress the character had made was derailed the moment Kristen reverted back to her old self and stabbed Victor. (Not that the old coot didn’t half deserve it for what he did to her and Brady.)
It would have been more poignant and in line with all the progress Kristen had made over the past year if she’d only considered shoving a knife into old Vic. At the last moment, she could have dropped it and run off, which could have kept Kristen in Salem where she belongs.
What About Brady?
It’s pretty clear the show’s writers view Brady as the “Loser at Love” poster boy. The guy never gets a happy ending with any of the women in his life. Think Melanie, Nicole, Theresa, and now Kristen.
And, to top it off, the show’s scribes won’t allow him to be a dad to his kids either. Brady lost custody of Tate to Theresa and will insist Kristen take off with Rachel rather than return to Salem and face the consequences for attacking Victor. Sure the guy is being totally selfless, sacrificing his own happiness so Kristen can realize her lifelong dream of motherhood.
But Brady and Kristen fans would have preferred the pair somehow work through this together because, after everything they’ve been through, they deserve a few months of happiness. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
