As much as that fall down the hospital stairwell that Peter took hurt on General Hospital, we imagine what really stung was Maxie Jones giving him a verbal smackdown! For turning in a tour-de-force performance that will be remembered for quite some time, Soap Hub gives Storms Performer of the Week for GH honors.
Kirsten Storms — Performer of the Week
We knew we were in for quite the performance from Storms as Maxie (Kirsten Storms) was going to lie to Peter (Wes Ramsey) that their daughter Louise had been kidnapped by “Chloe” (Kimberly J. Brown). As the naughty nurse is at the bottom of a hole in the woods, it’s safe to say that Maxie was going to be able to pull off this ruse uncontested.
At first, Maxie recounted everything as it had actually happened. Chloe took her to a remote house and attempted to induce labor. Then, Maxie worked in some lies, saying that Chloe had stolen the baby. Maxie wanted to keep Peter in the dark about Louise but the time for keeping silent about knowing he’s evil personified was over!
Maxie told Peter that Chloe claimed it was all his idea to take her to the cabin, help with the delivery, and take them away in a helicopter. “Can you believe that?” Maxie asked. She went on to lull Peter into a false sense of security, crying, telling him that he’d done so much to protect her. If only Peter could tap into an evil side, Maxie offered.
“Chloe Jennings isn’t even her name!” Peter shouted out in anger. This gave Maxie the opening she needed. How would Peter know such a thing unless he was in cahoots with her? “Chloe isn’t the only one who is fake!” Maxie informed Peter. When Peter tried to toss the focus back onto demented Chloe, Storms had Maxie let loose with an unbridled fury that removed any doubt that Peter could no longer pretend to be something he’s not.
“Takes one to know one, you demented son of a bitch!” Maxie screamed. Peter tried talking his way out of it but Maxie wasn’t hearing it. “It feels good not to have to pretend anymore,” Maxie said, calling Peter by his birth name — Henrik — which is more associated with his evil father Cesar Faison.
“I hope you feel every bit of fear that I’ve felt,” she continued. Maxie said that everything changed once she learned that Peter was a cold-blooded killer. “It took every ounce of resolve I had not to run from you screaming. Does that hurt badly ‘Henrik’? I wonder if it’s as bad as what you did to Drew Cain or Franco or any of your other victims. Was the real Chloe Jennings once one of them?”
“She had to be eliminated,” responded a furious Peter, who quickly realized he had confessed to at least one of the crimes Maxie was accusing him of committing.
Next, Maxie lost it when Peter suggested that they still had a future together. “Of course, it’s too late you arrogant bastard,” she screamed. Storms took her performance to another level as Maxie mixed in the rage she felt over Peter’s real crimes with the false story that Louise had been kidnapped by Chloe.
Despite all this Peter still felt he could control the situation, find Louise, and have a future with Maxie. The new mother administered a coup de gras by informing Peter that their entire conversation was being emailed to her uncle Mac (John J. York), Chief of Detectives at the Port Charles Police Department.
There was actually one more final blow that Maxie dealt Peter from her hospital bed. She noted that Peter’s father was an “evil genius,” but that Peter himself was nothing but a “cheap, imitation knockoff.” Exhausted, Maxie had not only given birth to a baby that night but she also delivered a message to Peter that he was finished!
Brava to Storms for a performance that deserves to be remembered at next year’s Daytime Emmys. “You’re amazing,” Mac told Maxie later on her not only getting Peter to confess but to record it, too. We quite agree! General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
