Kimberly J. Brown, who earned a Daytime Emmy nod for her portrayal of Josh and Reva’s daughter Marah on Guiding Light at the age of 11, is headed back to daytime.

Kimberly J. Brown Joins The General Hospital Cast

According to an interview she gave with Soap Opera Digest, Brown will be joining General Hospital in a “mystery role” to air sometime next week.

“I am so excited,” she told the publication. “I started acting when I was 5 or 6, and being on GUIDING LIGHT was such a highlight for me. I haven’t done a soap since GUIDING LIGHT, so I’m just thrilled to be doing something in daytime again.”

This marks Brown’s first return to daytime since she briefly reprised Marah back in 2006 on GL, and the actress was beaming with excitement over the news. “It feels like going back to something that holds a special place in my heart, and to get to do it as an adult,” she said. “It’s a different experience as an adult, but it gives you that nostalgia and all the great memories of when I was a kid working on the soap, which was just such a huge family. I loved working with everyone there.”

Brown began her acting career on the stage and is still the only performer to have been in three Broadway productions by the age of 9 — Four Baboons Adoring the Sun, Les Misérables, and Showboat. Disney fans know her for having played Marnie in the first three installments of the popular Halloweentown series, though Sara Paxton took over the role for the most recent one.

Over the years, she’s also appeared in AMC’s Low Winter Storm and Hallmark’s Crossword Mysteries. According to IMDb, her latest work, Abducted, a film that also stars Billy Ray Cyrus, is currently in pre-production. While no details have been revealed about who Brown will be playing, fans are already speculating that she’s about the same age-range of Michael, Brando, and Dante, so she could be headed to a romance with one of that trio.

And let’s remember, as a young actress, Brown learned at the knee of three-time Emmy winner Kim Zimmer and acted beside Cynthia Watros (ex-Annie) and Laura Wright (ex-Cassie) on GL as well, so it would be fun to see her share some scenes with either Nina or Carly and see that already-established chemistry in action. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
