Valentin and Nina
The General Hospital recaps for January 16 – January 20, 2023, featured several rousing rounds of the blame game and so much more.
Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) floats the idea of fighting Nikolas (Marcus Coloma) and Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) for sole custody of Esme’s baby. Diane (Carolyn Hennesy) cautions that it’s unlikely, though not impossible that he’d win and offers to fight the battle on his behalf…Laura (Genie Francis) speaks with Esme and learns that Spencer insinuated he was her baby’s father.
Nikolas fills Liz (Rebecca Herbst) in on Victor’s (Charles Shaughnessy) blackmailing him with evidence of Esme’s imprisonment at Wyndemere. Nikolas perks up when Liz confides Carolyn’s conditioning of her to forget her confrontation with Reiko Finn.
Nina (Cynthia Watros) tells Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) that she is her mother; Willow is chagrined. Nina’s efforts to make inroads with Willow are rebuffed…Michael (Chad Duell) referees Carly (Laura Wright) and Sonny (Maurice Benard). Curtis (Donnell Turner) warns Portia (Brook Kerr) against interfering in Trina’s (Tabyana Ali) relationship with Spencer; Taggert (Réal Andrews) takes exception…Curtis tries to interest Portia in starting a family of their own.
Heather (Alley Mills) plans to escape from Spring Ridge and murder Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) but Esme’s transfer to the facility puts paid to that…Nina learns that she is a potential bone marrow match for Willow but further tests are needed…Willow hedges when comes to discussing inducing labor or having her daughter delivered via C-section.
Martin (Michael E. Knight) makes it clear to Victor that Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) are in the process of ferreting out Lucy’s (Lynn Coe) location. In Paris, France, Valentin reaches out to an old contact whom he’s sure can help him and Anna infiltrate Victor’s stronghold.
Heather makes Esme’s acquaintance but winds up setting the girl on edge…Michael remains cool towards his mother. However, Willow absolves Carly of keeping mum about her maternity. Willow begs Sonny to make peace with Michael…Valentin’s contact seemingly sells him and Anna out to one of Victor’s goons…Spencer and Ava (Maura West) join forces with the stated goal of making Nikolas and Esme suffer.
Sonny takes Carly to task for her subterfuge…Austin (Roger Howarth) alerts Liesl (Kathleen Gati) that Nina is in need of a friendly face. Liesl talks Nina out of seeking revenge against Carly…Josslyn advocates for Carly; Michael doesn’t thank her for it…Dex (Evan Hofer) reiterates his intention to bring Sonny down; Michael is receptive…Portia and Curtis ask Marshall (Robert Gossett) to play his trumpet at their wedding but he begs off. Portia presses Marshall to get tested for schizophrenia.
Marshall refuses to submit to tests arguing that learning he was misdiagnosed and abandoned his family for no reason whatsoever would prove devastating…Cameron catches Josslyn and Dex in a compromising position…Finn (Michael Easton) and Elizabeth explain their break-up to Violet…Victor forces Nikolas to sign over Spoon Island — lock, stock, and barrel — to Ava…Ava and Austin get chummy. Later, Ava interrupts a set-to between Austin and Mason…Michael admits that he can’t foresee forgiving Carly in the short term, but that the long term is another story.
