General Hospital Elizabeth Webber
As Rebecca Herbst recently marked 25 years of playing Elizabeth Webber Spencer Baldwin on General Hospital, remembering her character’s many loves in Port Charles led to a lovely walk down Memory Lane.
In fact, those of us at Soap Hub felt moved to ask over 2,000 loyal fans: Which man was Elizabeth’s best match ever? Here’s what you told us:
Franco Baldwin (Roget Howarth), of course, 54% of the audience insists. He was her longest relationship, which makes him the best. He’s the one who took on not just Elizabeth, but also her three boys, who all ended up having stronger relationships with him than they did with their assorted biological fathers. Franco made Elizabeth happy. The other guys just made her miserable.
Elizabeth may have forgotten her first love, but 32% of voters are still pining for a reunion between her and Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson, Jacob Young, Greg Vaughan…you’re not picky). You remember the way he supported Elizabeth after her rape.
You remember him taking on Cameron Webber (William Lipton) as his own, and accepting Jake (Hudson West) even when Lucky knew Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) was his biological father. Lucky even brought Jake back from the dead for her! You never get over a soulmate like that!
Hey, remember when Elizabeth kind of, sort of dated Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) for a couple of weeks there? Yeah, 7% do, too.
An ever fewer 5% recall Jason and Elizabeth’s flash in the pan fling, which produced Jake, the boy Jason was about as interested in as he was in his other son, Danny. His lack of interest pretty much killed any interest you had in seeing the couple reunite.
Liz was also married to Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst). He might have loved her…in his own way. And Liz had a moment of warmth towards him, too. Not after how the whole thing imploded, though, 1% sigh.
