General Hospital’s Parry Shen is saying goodbye to the lovable 3-year-old twins, Theo and Erik Olson, who together have played Michael Corinthos Quartermaine’s son Wiley since the baby was born and involved in a crazy baby swap.
The Olsons are headed off for a life in France, while Wiley will now be played by Caleb and Kyler Ends, slightly older twins who also played Maxie Jones’s (Kirsten Storms) son with Nathan West (Ryan Paevey), James, as well as David Ridgeway on Days of our Lives.
Parry Shen, whose GH character, Brad Cooper, was responsible for the illegal switcheroo along with Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier), spent a lot of time acting with the Olsons and spending time with them on set. Shen sent a sweet goodbye to the adorable kids on Instagram.
“There was NO way I was gonna let [Theo and Erik] relocate to France this summer without seeing them for one last time,” the actor wrote, adding several photos and a fun video of playing with the boys behind the scenes of the show. “I’ll miss these 2 extraordinarily well behaved, delightful & charming kiddos.”
Shen’s Brad first appeared in Port Charles in 2013 and the character fell in love with Lucas Jones (Ryan Carnes). The actor had so much time with the boys because Brad and Lucas raised young Wiley for a year-and-a-half before the truth came out.
The baby that Brad and Lucas had died, and Nelle begged Brad to take Jonah, the baby she had with Michael (Chad Duell), and said it was her son that had passed. The complicated story eventually ended with the truth coming out, Lucas dumping Brad, and Brad being sent off to prison.
“Although I feel like I’m losing ‘em all over again (first when sent away to TV prison and now with them living in France 🇫🇷), I’m so grateful the #GH baby switch storyline brought us all together and those memories are now forever preserved in TV history,” he wrote.
Shen obviously had fun with the kids, and he also thanked their mom, Jacks, for her role in it all. “She not only was a new mom, but new to this entire crazy business!” he wrote. “However, she was like a seasoned pro — knowing when to step in to calm her kids and when to step away & stay hidden so they wouldn’t get distracted.”
He left one tip for the boys as they continue on their acting journey: “And remember boys — you can burp as MANY times as your heart desires, as long as you say, ‘Excuse me!’”
The boys’ official Instagram also chimed in after word spread that they were no longer playing Wiley. “I have been dreading the day I would have to write this as I know how many of you dearly love the boys and wanted them to grow up on GH,” began their mom. “We want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your love and support! The boys LOVED being Wiley on GH, LOVED all the cast and crew who truly were (and always will be) family, and it’s been so sad hearing the boys ask when they get to go back.”
It turns out that their dad got an amazing opportunity to work in France, so the family had to quickly sell everything, say goodbye to GH and their old life, and welcome in the new. “It was fitting that Wiley’s 3rd birthday party was their last day; what a special way to say goodbye,” she added.
