We Now Know How Kelly Monaco Will Exit General Hospital

On the heels of the surprising announcement that Kelly Monaco will be exiting General Hospital, more news has come to light. Sources claim that her exit will be in the fall, and the circumstances surrounding her character Sam’s departure will be tragic. 

Her Exit Will Be Shocking

According to Soap Opera Network’s August 26 report, Monaco was “blindsided” by the choice that the Powers That Be made to have her leave. On top of that, it looks like Sam — who’s been a pivotal Port Charles resident since 2003 — is going to die in the fall, which is shocking news for the fans. Details of how she’ll be killed off have not yet been released.

One aghast viewer on X, formerly Twitter, wrote, “Wait. What in the WHAT NOW?!? Kelly Monaco is leaving? #GH is KILLING SAM McCALL OFF?!?!?” Another fan was concerned about Sam’s children, posting, “First and foremost this is jacked. If this is true [who’s] gonna raise the kids?”

Sam’s children are Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), whose father is Jason (Steve Burton), and Scout (Cosette Abinante), who was fathered by Jason’s brother, Drew (then Billy Miller, currently Cameron Mathison).

Speculation About How Sam Will Exit Abounds

One fan seemed to have a source that we’re unaware of and responded, “She’s gonna die from what I heard and it will involve Lucky.” Another viewer theorized, “She will probably be in an accident and it will be her liver that saves Lulu.”

Many of the followers were downright angry, stating that it was a mistake to let Monaco go, as one replied, “She was one of then best characters! Man, [General Hospital] [is] making a BIG mistake!”

There are a lot of ways Sam can go out, and one might have something to do with the fact that Jason may end up working with Brennan (Charles Mesure), performing the same Enforcer tasks that he’s done for Sonny (Maurice Benard). Danger follows him everywhere, and Sam’s death could bring him and Danny closer.

The fans are sad to see her go, and so are we.
