It’s been a rough couple of weeks for Willow on General Hospital, and things don’t seem to be letting up. After what was supposed to be a simple supervised visit with Michael and their two children, Willow wound up in handcuffs — while Nina faced her own set of charges for providing a false alibi. The fallout from Drew’s shooting has officially gone nuclear. And in a new interview, Katelyn MacMullen revealed just how blindsided her character was, and why she’s convinced Michael may be behind it all.

Key Takeaways

  • Willow’s supervised visit with Michael and the kids takes a shocking turn when she’s arrested in front of them.
  • Nina’s false alibi collapses, leaving Willow as the prime suspect in Drew’s shooting.
  • The discovery of Edward’s gun in Willow’s room pushes the PCPD to act fast.
  • Willow starts to believe Michael may have set her up, tying the weapon back to his family.
  • MacMullen says Willow’s worst fears about Michael and his family’s dark side are finally coming true.
  • Chase emerges as Willow’s lifeline as he keeps an open mind about Michael’s involvement.
  • Whether or not Michael is guilty, Willow’s trust in him may already be shattered.

Willow’s World Turned Upside Down

MacMullen spoke with Soap Opera Digest about the explosive storyline, and she made it clear that Willow truly never saw this arrest coming. One moment, she was soaking up precious time with Wiley (Viron Weaver) and Amelia (Sequoia and Serenity Mork Macko), and the next, the PCPD was storming through the door with cuffs in hand. “She was there just soaking up this time with her children and then the police came through the door,” MacMullen says. “That alone was kind of surprising to Willow because she knows they’re questioning everybody, but she’s like, ‘Why now? I’m with my kids!’”

Her character’s panic only intensified once the gun used in Drew’s (Cameron Mathison) shooting was discovered in her room at Liz’s (Rebecca Herbst) house — a discovery that instantly turned her into the prime suspect. To make matters worse, Nina’s (Cynthia Watros) fabricated alibi came crumbling down just as the police closed in. “I think the minute Nina started lying to the police, Willow was probably like, ‘Oh, no, this isn’t good,’” MacMullen admitted.

And then came the ultimate gut punch: Willow began to believe Michael (Rory Gibson) may have been the one to set her up. Between his timing, his family ties to the weapon, and their deteriorating relationship, her suspicions grew fast. (Find out why fans didn’t like the way Willow was arrested.)

Worst Fears Realized

This storyline cuts deep for Willow because Michael has always represented a complicated mix of love and fear. She’s long worried about the darker side of The Corinthos family — and now, it seems she may be staring it in the face. “She heard stories of how he would retaliate in the past, but she never thought it would get to this level,” MacMullen shared. “So now, it’s like she is seeing her worst fears come true when it comes to him.”

But Willow does have people on her side. Chase (Josh Swickard) has been worrying about her and even informed her that her kids were okay after her arrest. He’s not ruling Michael out as a suspect, and seems to be there for her.

For Willow, that support could make the difference between total isolation and a fighting chance. Whether Michael is guilty or not remains to be seen — but Willow’s faith in him may already be beyond repair.
