After falling out of a window and landing in the Metro Court Hotel pool on General Hospital, Kate Mansi’s character, Kristina, lost her baby. She’s now undergoing some changes, and Mansi found some support from The Young and the Restless star and recent Daytime Emmy winner, Courtney Hope.

Shooting Kristina’s Fall

GH’s Kristina (Kate Mansi) is saddened by the loss of the baby she was carrying for Molly (Kristen Vaganos) and TJ (Tajh Bellow), and angry at Ava (Maura West) who set the tragic events in motion with her lies and deception. Recently, Mansi spoke with Soap Opera Digest about what went into making those scenes. (Check out the behind-the-scenes from Kristina’s fall.)

She also explained that Y&R’s Hope (Sally) later went with her to work out. The two caught up on things, particularly their respective characters’ storylines, and Mansi explained what Kristina went through, stating, “I was like, ‘Oh, it was this whole thing, I fell out of a window, and then I fell into the pool,’ and the women at this, like, peaceful, Zen studio must have been like, ‘Who are these women?!’ ” We would love to have been flies on the wall and caught the expressions of the others who were listening in on the actors’ conversation.

Hope Was There For Mansi

Mansi continued, explaining that Hope’s Y&R character, Sally, had also lost a child a year ago, noting, “And we were sort of commiserating about how you yearn for those kind of heavy, gritty storylines, and then, when you’re in it, you’re like, ‘Oh, God! I can’t wait to do something light!'”

As the two opened up to each other, both agreed that gritty scenes versus light scenes were like a see-saw because, as an actor, when you’re going through one process, you wish you were on the opposite side and vice versa. Mansi further remarked, “I definitely acknowledge the absurdity there! But I really am loving Kristina’s journey right now.” By having Hope as someone who could relate to what she’s been through, Mansi is better able to refine her craft. Mansi has delivered great scenes in this storyline, and we’re looking forward to more.
