General Hospital’s Nancy Lee Grahn has spent decades making Alexis sharp, messy, funny, wounded, and somehow still able to win an argument while the room is on fire. Alexis has raised daughters, survived a parade of rotten romances, and keeps finding ways to move forward. Now, Grahn confirmed that she is not done with Port Charles, and her latest interview also covered why daytime still feels like home.

Key Takeaways

  • Nancy Lee Grahn confirmed she re-signed her GH contract.
  • Grahn said she will stay with GH for another three years.
  • She said she still loves her job and where she works.
  • Grahn credited Santa Barbara with helping keep her in daytime.
  • She said soaps remain familiar, consistent, dependable, and harmless.

Grahn Is Staying With GH

Grahn was on Soapy, hosted by Greg Rikaart (Leo, Days of Our Lives) and Rebecca Budig (Taylor, The Bold and the Beautiful), when the conversation turned to her long run in daytime. She said, “I love my job.” She also said, “I love where I work.”

The biggest news came when Grahn talked about her future at GH. She said, “I just resigned my contract.” Then she added, “So, another three years, and I’m so grateful for this part of my life.”

Grahn also said she is glad she stayed in daytime, especially after Santa Barbara helped keep her in the genre. She said that the show was a real growth period for her and that Julia was such an interesting character that it made staying feel worth it.

She Still Loves The Work

Part of what made the interview fun was Grahn talking about how she works. She admitted she likes to live a little dangerously with scripts, especially when she can make fast choices in her head.

She also pushed back on the old idea that soaps are just a training ground. Grahn said actors should train before they get the job, because daytime is too fast and demanding for people who are not ready.

When asked why people should watch soaps now, Grahn kept it simple. She said they are familiar, consistent, dependable, and harmless. After years of doom talk around the genre, she sees energy again, and she sounds grateful to still be part of it.
