Ingo Rademacher Maurice Benard General Hospital
On General Hospital, Jax and Sonny are getting along well these days, but there have been times when they’ve gone at it like bitter rivals. But this story isn’t about what you see on screen. In real-life, Maurice Benard (Sonny), Ingo Rademacher (Jax) and Rademacher’s son, Peanut, sat down for an episode of Benard’s program State of Mind to deal with off-screen anger issues.
The conversation came about after Rademacher’s wife, Ehiku, urged her husband to deal with how he was, at times, dealing with his children, Peanut and Pohaku. “My wife said to me one day ‘you need to fix your anger tantrums towards the kids,'” Rademacher shares, adding that “it could damage them mentally. I would have to break my illusion that I was OK. It’s been 2-3 years since I’ve played the ‘hulk’ to get my kids to listen and I’m thankful to my wife for her support. It’s not easy to say one has a problem and some might even say I didn’t.”
In order to work on the issue and hopefully help other parents in the process, Rademacher chatted with Benard in a State of Mind episode where the two actors and Peanut open up about the struggles. You can see a preview of the chat in the Instagram post below.
The clip starts off with Benard saying that fight scenes between Sonny and Jax don’t necessarily work given their height disparity. Benard says that Rademacher is 6’2″ and jokes that he is 5’2″ (he’s taller than that, FYI). But Rademacher says it doesn’t matter as Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky has been shorter than some of the opponents he bested.
