General Hospital Star Kathleen Gati Raves About Another Port Charles Baddie

Imagine Lex Luthor and the Joker teaming up? The General Hospital equivalent might be Dr. Liesl Obrecht, a powerful (yet sympathetic) player, teaming up with uber-villainess Helena Cassadine the next time the powerful matriarch returns to the canvas. We know that Obrecht’s portrayer, Kathleen Gati, has great respect for Towers. (And we’d bet dinner at Kelly’s that the feeling is mutual.)

Kathleen Gati: Quarantine Viewing

Gati recently caught one of Towers’ movies and took to social media to praise her performance in it. “Just watching #ConstanceTowers in #FateIsTheHunter Gorgeous then and gorgeous now! #GH @GeneralHospital #HelenaCassadine rules!”

Towers appeared in the 1964 film Fate is the Hunter, which told the tale of a doomed aircraft and an airline executive pal of the pilot’s who was determined to clear his colleague’s name after he was blamed for the crash.

The movie’s all-star cast included Glenn Ford (Superman), Suzanne Pleshette (The Bob Newhart Show), Jane Russell (Gentlemen Prefer Blondes), Dorothy Malone (Peyton Place), Wally Cox (Hollywood Squares), and Mary Wickes (Sister Act). Towers played the part of Peg Burke in the compelling film.

Gati’s followers certainly agree with her assessment of Towers and some shared their favorite films in which the actress has appeared. “Another good Constance Towers movie is Sergeant Rutledge directed by John Ford,” posted @EvilTwinLogic. “She is luminous in it.”

“I was lucky enough to see her with Yul Brenner in The King and I,” posted @KristiBurrus. Added @ValentinFanGH: “Have you ever seen The Naked Kiss? She’s amazing in it.”

Even though Helena was shot point-blank by Luke (Anthony Geary) during the show’s 50th-anniversary celebration and then died in her bed in 2015, she has since returned from beyond to cause mayhem in the lives of many Port Charles citizens. Should Helena ever need a doctor, we easily can see her reaching out to Dr. O! General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check local listings for air times.
