The General Hospital recap for Monday, December 16, 2019 features drama aplenty at the Jerome Gallery, Lulu and Dustin continuing to prove that they will never be hired as professional chaperones, and a much-loved patient awakening.
With the auction about to get underway, Ava (Maura West) was anxious for her very special guests to appear. And in short order Laura (Genie Francis) and Curtis (Donnell Turner) arrived, quickly followed by Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and Nina (Cynthia Watros).
It was clear the new scheme team had something up their devious designer sleeves but a revelation from the women was not forthcoming. Curtis interrupted their revelry to take Nina aside and tell her that he suspects Liesl (Kathleen Gati) was in cahoots with Valentin concerning Sasha’s (Sofia Mattsson) deception.
When Ava announced that it was time to begin the bidding war for Helena’s portrait, Valentin was in like a shot with $10,000. Jax countered and the two men’s one –upsmanship hiked the price up to $350,000.
Seeing that Jax was in the lead, Nina dragged him from the room and warned him that, “If you keep bidding on that portrait, you’re going to regret it.” Seeing no alternative – and with Valentin offering $400,000 — a panicked Laura hollered out $450,000.
Ava tried to surreptitiously dissuade Laura from continuing but Madame Mayor was resolute. Trina (Sydney Mikayla), having learned from Laura how important getting the portrait was to her, purposefully shoved a canape carrying waitress into Valentin when it looked like he might counter.
And with that, Laura was declared the winner. But, before she could celebrate her victory, her prize was suddenly engulfed in flames — much to the consternation of everyone assembled — except for a pair of perfectly pleased partners.
Charlotte’s (Scarlett Fernandez) insistence that she had a secret bodyguard neither impressed Rocco nor made him a believer. So to prove the veracity of her claim, Charlotte took advantage of Lulu (Emme Rylan) and Dustin’s (Mark Lawson) smooch break and jumped from the pier into the port’s ice-cold waters.
It was good news for everyone assembled at GH. The assassin that Peter (Wes Ramsey) shot was dead so Mr. August was off the hook — again — and Andre (Anthony Montgomery) revealed that Franco’s (Roger Howarth) vitals indicated that he was ready to wake up.
After pleading with her husband to come back to her, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) was heartened to see Franco open his eyes. But, will he know who he really is? General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
