Good news for fans of ex-One Life To Live actor Mark Lawson! It turns out his stint on General Hospital as a date for Lulu wasn’t just a one-shot. The actor has some big news about his status with the ABC soap!
Lawson, who made his GH premiere on July 9, is set to bring his teacher character, Dustin Phillips, back to Port Charles for another appearance. This next one airs tomorrow, Tuesday, July 23!
“We’re taking it one day at a time right now,” Lawson told TV Insider about his GH return. “I gotta be honest, I like keeping him a bit of a mystery man for now. I do think he’s this lonely guy who has learned how to cover that up by being extroverted.”
Lawson says keeping his daytime comeback wasn’t an easy secret to maintain in this era of social media. “It was really hard not to talk about it, but I hope the surprise was worth it!”
The actor adds that he’d been in to read for a few other roles at GH since OLTL ended and he was flattered to be offered the part of Dustin.
As for running into Llanview pals, who now reside in Port Charles, Lawson says he’s seen Roger Howarth (Franco; ex-Todd) and he’s hoping to reconnect with some more. “I haven’t seen [Michael Easton, Finn; ex-John] yet, but I’m looking forward to it!”
Lawson adds that working with Emme Rylan (Lulu) and Kirsten Storms (Maxie) has been a dream. “I had met Kirsten [Storms, Maxie] at some ABC Daytime/Broadway Cares events or at the Daytime Emmys,” the actor recalls. “They have both been so gracious to me and it’s been great being around them. The whole place is great. Everyone is welcoming.”
What’s next for Dustin? Don’t miss tomorrow’s episode to find out! General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check local listings for air times.
