What Is Elizabeth’s Problem With Britt Westbourne On General Hospital?

General Hospital fans saw the long-time rivalry and near-hatred between Elizabeth Webber and Britt Westbourne last week when Liz suddenly and unexpectedly returned to work at GH and Britt, the co-chief of staff, was not happy with it. And then the passive-aggressive fireworks began.

General Hospital Rivalry Heats Up

In recent times, Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) made enemies of many hospital workers when Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) first brought her on as chief of staff and she cut hours across the board, including Elizabeth’s (Rebecca Herbst) hours. However, that’s not what makes Liz feel as she does about Britt. The reason for that goes back years.

It was 2014 when Elizabeth confronted Britt with the knowledge that the baby she called Ben was really Rocco Falconeri, son of Lulu Falconeri (Emme Rylan) and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), and not her son with Patrick Drake (Jason Thompson).

That led to an epic General Hospital showdown between the women in which Britt told Elizabeth she knows that none of this hate for her came from her baby plot — she just didn’t like that Britt was forming a relationship with Nikolas Cassadine (then played by Tyler Christopher).

At the time, Elizabeth was all alone with two of her sons, believing that Jake had died. She didn’t even have Lucky because he had left her. Basically, Elizabeth had nobody and Britt accused her of wanting Nikolas back, a man she’d had an affair with who was also one of her best friends since high school. That rivalry for Nikolas led to bad blood between these two women for years and it doesn’t look like it’s going to get any better any time soon.

With Elizabeth back at work after checking her own self out of Shadybrook while still not acting quite like herself, who knows how bad things can get between her and Britt. Are these two old enemies destined for another showdown? Time will tell.
