General Hospital Secrets And Cockroaches: Who Is Really After Ava?

Published by

Upon receiving the most gruesome Valentine’s Day gift perhaps ever–a dead cockroach, all eyes went to the most logical stalker of Ava in Port Charles. Now no one is looking for who really sent it, which leaves the door open for a mega surprise General Hospital showdown to come.

General Hospital — Possible Stalkers

When the dead cockroach was “lovingly,” or so she thought, left for Ava (Maura West) on the table during her romantic dinner on Valentine’s Day, she of course thought the beautiful gift box was from Nikolas (Marcus Coloma). So, imagine the shock of horror when she opened it, saw the creepy dead fella, and thought for a moment that it came from her hubby?

Ironically, it could have actually come from Nik even just a few months ago when the two were still looking at their marriage as a messed-up contract to both get what they thought they wanted. They never full-on hated each other, but disdain for their pretend spouse, was ever-present. But then something changed and the two fell in love for real…or at least for right now.

They both instantly and confidently concluded that it was Ryan (Jon Lindstrom) who sent the cockroach. Are the Cassadines correct or way off to the point that they’ll never see Ava’s stalker until it’s too late?

All Roads Lead To An Evil Twin

The fact that Ryan is essentially locked up inside both a catatonic body and police custody, would seem like enough good reasons to cancel him out as a suspect. But this is Ryan. The same scarily smart serial killer who managed to switch places with his good and loving twin, Kevin (also played by Jon Lindstrom), while locked up in a mental hospital, and then fooled everyone for months.

Yes, we know (suspect?) that Ryan is at least partially faking his catatonic state from almost getting killed in prison by one of Cyrus’s (Jeff Kober) goons. Saying that — it is possible that he could have somehow arranged for the roach delivery. But he would have needed some help and a friend on the outside to help pull it off, and he’s not exactly abundant in those areas.

Despite these obvious deterrents, Ava believed 100 percent that Ryan was the one who sent the roach and went for his jugular like a rabid dog, determined to let him know she was the one to be feared from now on.

Ryan reacted as he often does with a mischievous look, of course only after Ava left the room, which echoed something in between, “What the hell is she talking about?” to “There’s someone else obsessed with my Ava? I’m going to kill him.” The bottom line? It’s not Ryan.

A Child Threat

Nikolas’s son, Spencer (Nicolas Bechtel) has long made it clear that he is not a fan of Ava. After she betrayed him and his father, he never wanted his dad to marry her. In fact, he gave his father, who faked his own death for more than three years, an ultimatum that it was either their relationship or Nikolas’s marriage to the bride of Frankenstein, but he could not have both.

The father and son have reconciled, sort of, but only on the phone, so therefore we’re not really buying that Spencer had a change of heart. The character could be recast as a young man soon, which could line up with a possible reveal that Spencer is the one who put Ava on notice.

The only issue with that theory is that Spencer is more creative with his manipulations than most adults. Remember, most recently he altered the election results for Mayor of Port Charles in his grandmother Laura’s (Genie Francis) favor. So, this cockroach stunt seems a bit beneath Spencer’s caliber. Still, it’s more plausible than Ryan.

The Dark Horse

The biggest clue about who sent the dead roach lies in the cryptic note that was left with the box. First of all, it was addressed to “Mrs. Cassadine,” not Ava. It’s likely that the sender could have serious issues with Ava and Nikolas’s newfound love and real marriage now.

But it’s the actual words on the note that revealed the most. The note read, “Secrets and cockroaches, those are the only two things that always survive…except for us.”

It is said that at the end of the world the only thing to survive would be cockroaches. That means the sender could be dead, but in actuality, survived, because cockroaches are dang hard to kill!  And who continues to be one of the greatest threats ever in Port Charles, dead or alive? You guessed it, Nikolas’s grandmother —  Helena  (Constance Towers).

Her return from the dead, again, would line up with the massive shocker that nobody will see coming that has been teased in spoilers. Unless it’s Nathan coming back from the dead…but that’s another story. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
