Later this month, This Is Us returns for its 5th season. You won’t have to wait till then to catch a glimpse of what the Pearson family and their friends will be facing as a new chapter begins. The show’s tagline for the new season is: “The Pearsons are ready for a new beginning.” But are they really?
“I think it’s time we start a new chapter,” Rebecca, played by Mandy Moore, says in the teaser. Scenes in the 30-second promo show Kevin (Justin Hartley) anticipating becoming a father, but it’s not all hearts and roses. Viewers are reminded that Kevin chose some hurtful words and flung them at Randall (Emmy-winner Sterling K. Brown) in last season’s finale. “The worst thing that ever happened to me was the day they brought you home,” Kevin flatly told his brother.
Ow! But the drama continues as the Pearson brothers are going to have a face-to-face reunion coming up. The show will definitely be writing COVID-19 into the show as Kevin is shown wearing a mask.
The show’s cast members have been retweeting the powerful promo. “You guys ready for a nice easy return to The Pearson clan? Ready for some ‘brotherly love?'” Brown posted. “Then I think you may be ready for season 5 of #ThisIsUs. See you in a couple of weeks.” Other cast members also shared the tweet from the This Is Us official account. Hartley tweeted: “A sneak peek of what’s to come this season. #ThisIsUs.” Susan Kelechi Watson (Beth) tweeted: “T-minus 2 weeks y’all!!! #ThisIsUs.” Moore tweeted: “New season, new beginnings, new clues… #ThisIsUs.”

Brown in the category of Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (2017); the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series has gone to Gerald McRaney (Dr. Nathan Katowski) in 2017 and Ron Cephas Jones (William Hill) in 2018 and in 2020.
