Jesse Williams has been acting for a number of years now, but his most famous role is definitely as Jackson Avery on Grey’s Anatomy. In fact, Williams has been on Grey’s Anatomy for 10 seasons.
But, prior to landing the role of a lifetime, Williams had quite the interesting life. From his other career paths to using his voice for good, here are five fast facts about the actor.
Teacher Before Actor
Before he decided to jump into the world of acting, Williams was actually a teacher for many years. He taught kindergarten, 7th grade, and high school in Philadelphia after he graduated from college.
Film Debut
Prior to landing the role of Jackson Avery on Grey’s Anatomy, Williams actually made his film debut in the highly anticipated sequel, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2! He played Alexis Bledel’s character love interest in the film.
Humanitarian
Along with acting, Williams is a very dedicated civil rights activist and humanitarian. In fact, he even won the Humanitarian Award at the BET Awards just a couple of years ago. He is dedicated to using his voice to enact change.
Tech Master
Along with being an actor and a humanitarian, the father of two has also created the Ebroji app. The Ebroji app is basically gifs and images that people can share with one another, but they all have to do with aspects of African-American culture.
Video Game Character
As if being a tech mogul, actor, and activist isn’t enough, the 37-year-old is also the star of a video game! Williams is the character of Markus in the game Detroit: Become Human.
