Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) and Joy (AlexAnn Hopkins) took Kelsey (Lena and Mira Chase) to Horton Town Square for Halloween. While looking at the Day of the Dead table, Alex filled Joy in on his mom, Adrienne (Judi Evans). Joy remarked that Alex and Stephanie (Abigail Klein) were cousins because Adrienne and Steve (Stephen Nichols) are siblings. Alex got frustrated as he explained they were not raised together and are not biologically related. Joy kept pushing, which annoyed Alex. Stephanie drank alone at Small Bar until Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) joined her. Philip gave her an update on Xander (Paul Telfer). Stephanie informed Philip that Joy got feeling back in her legs. She also shared her theory on Joy faking her paralysis. Philip revealed Joy got muscle relaxers from her father. Stephanie found Alex and Joy, who she called out for faking her paralysis. Gabi invited Philip to dinner, which he accepted. Philip stopped Sydney from spilling about the poker game. Later, Philip told Gabi that she showed up when he needed her most. Leo (Greg Rikaart) and Javi (Jacob Martinez) celebrated Halloween together by stopping by the Day of the Dead table to remember Javi’s daughter. Xander claimed they had to stop the breakup-and-get-back-together cycle before they could reunite. Marlena believed they could do it. Tate (Leo Howard) learned that Sarah and Brady had broken up. Brady confronted Sarah over always loving Xander, even when they were an item. Sarah apologized for hurting him. Brady hoped Xander wouldn’t hurt her again as Sarah tried to explain Brady meant a lot to her. In Xander’s hospital room, he informed Sarah they had more work to do before they reunited. It was the day after Halloween, and Holly was determined to find Sophia. Tate wasn’t convinced Holly saw Sophia in Horton Town Square. They argued as Holly insisted her mind wasn’t playing tricks on her. Mason (Brandon Butler) walked by, so Holly grabbed him. After listening to Holly tell her story and reflecting on the phone call that sounded like Sophia, Mason agreed Holly could have seen Sophia. Tate pushed back before he left, asking where Sophia had been. Holly came up with an idea to find out if Sophia was alive. Lani (Sal Stowers) informed Xander and Sarah that George’s (Michael Rose) laptop exonerated Sarah. The latter was thrilled, especially since a patient had just refused to let Sarah examine her because of the lawsuit. Alone with Xander, Lani gave him advice off the record. Lani recalled her own self-defense shooting saving Paulina (Jackée Harry) and told him to lawyer up because, as a felon with an unlicensed gun, Xander was in serious trouble. Leo happily filled Chad (Conner Floyd) in on his reunion with Javi. Theo (Tyler Joseph Andrews) interrupted them, asking to speak with Chad alone. Leo listened at the bar as Theo told Chad that Johnny had asked him about DiMera being used to ship illegal merchandise. Chad realized it had to do with the Gabi Chic counterfeit bags. They talked about their great loves and missing their husbands. Later in Horton Town Square, Julie talked to the plaque for Tom (Macdonald Carey) and Alice (Frances Reid) Horton. Julie waxed about Salem being different, but the root of the town was still the same as she worked in an “All the Days of our Lives” comment. Gwen joined Gabi for a drink at Small Bar. They discussed Gabi’s quest to shut down the operation making Gabi Chic fake bags. Gwen informed Gabi that she had given Leo a lead on a warehouse after he overheard Chad and Theo talking about a DiMera shipping discrepancy. Gabi was thrilled to have an angle other than Philip’s gambling and mob connections. Gwen and Gabi reached out to Leo to join them for a drink, but he didn’t answer, so they toasted him instead. Belle and Chad had an awkward conversation about taking down EJ. Neither was forthcoming with information, which they both viewed as insulting.
