DAYS The Rinse: Xander Shuts Down a Reunion With Sarah for The Best Reason

The Rinse: Our daily look at the biggest takeaway from the last episode of DAYS. Xander and Sarah’s happy reunion hit a major snag because of him. For once Xander did the right thing for the right reason instead of just making himself happy in the moment.

In the November 4 episode of Days of our Lives, Xander made a surprising decision about reuniting with Sarah. A heart-to-heart with Marlena showed just how much Xander had grown as he realized that getting back together with Sarah would be easy but wasn’t the right thing for either of them right now.

Key Takeaways

  • Xander admitted to Marlena that he and Sarah had work to do.
  • Sarah learned Xander didn’t want to get back together.
  • Xander wants forever, not right now.

Marlena Gives Xander An Outlet

Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) was by Xander’s (Paul Telfer) bedside when Marlena (Deidre Hall) stopped by his hospital room with flowers. Xander was sleeping but woke up just as Sarah, uncomfortably, admitted to Marlena that Brady (Eric Martsolf) broke up with her.

The Scottish man was surprised at the revelation. Xander asked to speak to Marlena alone. He revealed that he had been doing the work to grow and change, but he felt Sarah needed to do that too. Their problem wasn’t love; it was trust, and if they weren’t careful, they would just make the same mistakes all over again.

Even though Xander was thrilled Sarah still loved him, he didn’t want to get back together unless it was the real deal. Xander explained that the cycle he and Sarah have been on, breaking up and getting together again, needed to be broken for his, Sarah’s, and Victoria’s (Angelica Nero) sake.

Sarah Gets an Earful

While Marlena talked to Xander, Sarah had a tough conversation with Brady. Sarah apologized for hurting him. Brady called her out for not being honest with him and admitted that he hoped Xander didn’t hurt Sarah again.

Back with Xander, Sarah was dealt the blow that a reunion wasn’t happening, and he couldn’t guarantee it would ever happen. Xander admitted that he loved Sarah so much, but they needed to deal with the issues that kept tearing them apart before reconciling.

Xander made it clear that if or when they reunited, it had to be forever for them and their daughter. Sarah cried as she vowed to do whatever it took for them to be a family again.

The Decision Was Honest and Right

For months, Xander has put in the work to change, and he proved that during his conversation with Marlena. Instead of reacting and jumping in headfirst, Xander used his growth to realize more work needed to be done, and not just on his part.

It was pure joy watching Marlena listen as Xander concluded that the timing for him to reunite with Sarah wasn’t right. Xander struggled, especially when he told Sarah they had to break this cycle.

Sarah didn’t push back. Instead, she promised to put in the work because even she knows they can’t keep going on this way. Love isn’t the problem for Xander and Sarah. They know that, but until they deal with the other trust issues, heartbreak only looms.

Hats off to Xander for getting it right and doing the hard thing for the best reason: his family.
