In the Days of our Lives recap for November 1, 2023, Gabi and Stefan’s scheme threatens to derail any and all progress that Li has made during therapy with Marlena.

Days of our Lives Recap: Fall Guy
While Stefan (Brandon Barash) and Gabi (Camila Banus) discussed how to best stick it to Li (Remington Hoffman), their target took a seat before Dr. Evans (Deidre Hall).
Marlena praised Li for proving his dedication to getting over his obsession with Gabi and asked him to tell her about his previous relationships and how he felt about the women. Crickets. Surely, he had serious relationships before Gabi? Surely.

Indeed he had. Her name was Xiao-Xing, and she was his high school sweetheart. They spent every moment they could together. They snuck off during lunch to talk and kiss and discuss their future. How they’d get married one day and have lots of children. He thought she was his one true love. He thought they’d be together forever.
So what happened? His father happened. Wei didn’t want his son romancing a member of a working-class family and supposedly made an offer — one that would net her father a well-paying job 2,000 miles away — that she couldn’t refuse.
Xiao-Xing’s relocation had a devastating effect on Li. It made him feel powerless and made him resolve to never let anything like that happen again. He grew convinced that he’d never love anyone the way he loved her. And then he met Gabi. And like Xiao-Xing, she was taken away from him.
EUREKA! Doctor and patient had discovered the cause of Li’s obsessive behavior: early trauma. Afterward, Li confessed to feeling better, somehow lighter, hopeful. He was hopeful that now that he understood his behavior with Gabi and his desperation, he could be free of her hold on him.

Fat chance! No sooner had Li exited Marlena’s office than he took a phone call from Gabi (still at the DiMera mansion atop her comfy mattress) screeching that she’d been kidnapped.
DAYS Recap: Love And Marriage
Meanwhile, the DiMera manse was a flurry with activities other than Stefan and Gabi’s faux kidnapping. Holly (Ashley Puzemis) very nearly told Johnny (Carson Boatman) about the crush she’s harboring but was interrupted by news-bearing Nicole (Arianne Zucker) and EJ (Dan Feuerriegel). They’re getting married. Today! Within a few hours’ time! They’d love their children’s blessing.
Johnny gave his unequivocally. Holly…not so much. She saw the wedding as an impediment to scoring Johnny. Who’d want to date their stepsister? So, she made a bit of a scene and then cried to Nicole that she was merely concerned about Eric’s (Greg Vaughan) feelings. Nicole remembered Eric, right? Her former husband? Holly’s ex-stepfather? Yeah, yeah she does.
But Eric is her past, and EJ is her future. And she’d love for Holly to be happy for her…and to wear that green taffeta dress they bought for a mommy/daughter outing. Holly agreed to do neither. She’s come to the wedding, but it would be in a slinky black number Nicole didn’t approve of, and she wouldn’t necessarily like it.
DOOL Recap: Fool’s Errand
At the Brady Pub, Tate (Jamie Martin Mann) confided in Eric that he was crushing on Holly. HARD. Unfortunately, he’d never win the girl. Her heart was already spoken for….by a most unsuitable suitor.
Before Tate could explain further, Johnny (of all people) showed up to ask that Eric provide the nibbles for the reception — because that wouldn’t be Hella awkward for anyone.
Days of our Lives Recap: Best Man For The Job
As for EJ, he swung by Chad (Billy Flynn) and Stephanie’s (Abigail Klein) place, sniffed haughtily at its “coziness,” pretended to care about his brother’s relationship woes, then asked him to officiate the ceremony. Chad of course said yes.
