In the Days of our Lives recap for August 2, 2023, Abe exits stage left when his actual wife gets a little too handsy.

Days of our Lives Recap Highlights

In addition, Wendy stymies Li’s chance at happiness, Chanel and Talia reestablish their friendship (could love soon follow?), and Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) is subjected to the third degree. (You might be thrilled to know that she handles it like a champ.) Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.

Days of our Lives Recap: Far From Home

Despite Paulina’s (Jackée Harry) best efforts, the site of their abode did not stimulate Abe’s (James Reynolds) memories. Nothing looked the least bit familiar. Also, the huge spread that she prepared would be going to waste. He ate a whole bear claw earlier that morning and couldn’t even think about taking another bite of something.

At a loss, Paulina suggested putting on a film. They could do a comedy or a superhero blockbuster. But not a thriller. Definitely not a thriller. That wouldn’t do. How about an old movie? An old romantic movie? And during the movie they could…you know…do that thing that some couples do.

Unfortunately, overzealous Paulina forgot to even start the movie before jumping into the “you know.” A horrified Abe pulled away and wound up calling Steve (Stephen Nichols) to come and collect him while Paulina wept in the privacy of her bedroom.

Upon emerging, a dejected Paulina asked Steve to convince Abe that he needed to stay put, but Abe pulled the best friend card, and Steve had no choice but to wheel Abe on over to his and Kayla’s (Mary Beth Evans). Abe thanked Steve and apologized for the departure that he deemed “a bit awkward.” Equally awkward was Nicole (Arianne Zucker) calling on Paulina in order to visit with Abe only to be told that he’d moved out.

DAYS Recap: Matchmaker, Matchmaker…

Elsewhere, Li (Remington Hoffman) confided about his terrible blind date to Wendy (Victoria Grace). Connie had been Irritating, pushy, not very bright, and she never stopped talking. But Li had ended the night on a high…courtesy of Melinda Trask (Tina Huang). Wendy blanched at the mention of the woman’s name and wondered if it was bright of her brother to put his trust in someone who’d already burned him once before.

Opposite this, Melinda comforted Sloan in the aftermath of Colin receiving a 20-year prison sentence, and endeavored to get her mind off things by recalling her disastrous dinner date with one Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson). With one guess, Sloan correctly deduced that Alex was still hung up on his precious Stephanie (Abigail Klein).

The women then discussed Melinda and Li’s subsequent reunion and their plans to see one another again that night, and Sloan very nearly admitted to Melinda that Nicole was pregnant with Eric’s (Greg Vaughan) baby. It was but for Eric’s timely phone call that the secret stayed just that.

At Small Bar, with Wendy’s words echoing through his head, Li forwent sticking around and enjoying a glass (or two) of wine with Melinda and begged off the date.

DOOL Recap: The Way Things Were

Upon chancing into one another in the town square, Chanel (Raven Bowens) queried Talia’s (Aketra Sevillian) dark mood (the result of Colin insisting she was just as guilty as he) and ended up bolstering her spirits. With nothing to lose, Talia asked Chanel to dinner — a totally platonic dinner, mind you — which was happily accepted.

Days of our Lives Recap: Wrap Up

After returning home, Sloan found herself forced to answer several pressing questions from Eric, namely how/why did she get her hands on Nicole’s test results and keep mum about it.

Meanwhile, having shared with Steve that he and Wendy were now a bona fide couple (albeit a couple who’s forced to take things as slow as humanly possible due to privacy issues), Tripp (Lucas Adams) booked him and his girl a room at the Salem Inn…contingent on Wendy’s approval, of course. And she approved. She very much approved.
