After some pushback by Jack, Chad finally got him to sign off on exhuming Abby’s grave on the July 10 episode of Days of Our Lives, but what will they find in there? Also, a double wedding is in the works, but could it spell disaster for everyone involved?
Jack (Matthew Ashford) was beside himself with anger when a friend at city hall alerted him to the fact that Chad (Billy Flynn) was preparing to have Abigail’s (Marci Miller) grave exhumed. Chad explained that Clyde (James Read) told him Abby wasn’t actually dead, and Jack refused to take the word of a killer. However, Chad shared the video that he obtained from the villain which showed a mysterious woman locked in a room of some kind. While Jack mulled this evidence over, Chad got word from Paulina’s (Jackée Harry) office that the dig was cleared, and at that point it was too late for Jack to file any sort of injunction. The episode ended with the gravediggers ready to open the coffin.
But what will they find in there? One possibility is that they’ll find someone else’s body, which will lead to a separate mystery as to who it was that was killed and why. Or, instead of a body, there could be bags of money or bags of drugs.
But since Clyde pointed Chad to the gravesite, that seems doubtful. Then there’s always the possibility that Abby’s body is actually there, but while Jack noted that the thought of even digging it up was “ghastly,” having Abby’s corpse in there would be doubly so for the viewers. Hence, it’s highly unlikely that the show will go there. Odds are that her coffin is empty, so the race will be on to find a living Abby somewhere.
Bonnie (Judi Evans) has been advocating for Sarah (Lindsey Godfrey) and Xander (Paul Telfer) to share their wedding day with Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) and Theresa (Emily O’Brien). After appealing to Sarah’s need for family harmony — and recalling that she found the invitation for Xander’s mother in the trash and put a stamp on it to send it on its way — Bonnie was able to convince Sarah that a double wedding was in the best interest of everyone involved. Surprisingly, Alex agreed after Theresa signed the prenup, although it was clear by her face that she didn’t want to and is probably hatching a scheme to get out of it. (We’re just hoping it doesn’t go in the same direction Konstantin (John Kapelos) did when he signed a prenup.)
Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) mentioned that she once had a double wedding, and so did Xander, who explained it ended in disaster because he was marrying the wrong person. But he also agreed to the double wedding for the family’s sake. Obviously, the whole Theresa and Alex thing will eventually blow up in their faces once it’s revealed that she not only knew Alex wasn’t Victor’s true heir but also that she was after his money.
Thus, our fingers are crossed that at least Xander and Sarah will go on to have a good marriage because they’re long overdue for some happiness, and he’s proven himself to be a changed man for the better. When Sarah called Bonnie to tell her they were okay with it, she hollered, “Looks like Operation Double Wedding is a go!” and she hasn’t looked that happy in ages.
