As Days of Our Lives approaches its 60th anniversary, it is with heavy hearts that fans everywhere prepare for the final farewell to the beloved star Drake Hogestyn. The actor played iconic hero John Black for an impressive 38 years, and his co-stars fondly remembered him. And they continue to pay tribute to the fallen star as Martha Madison and Eric Martsolf unveiled a new fundraiser for pancreatic cancer, which was what took the life of the star.
Honor Thy TV Father
Eric Martsolf and Martha Madison play John’s kids, Brady and Belle, respectively. Martsolf shared some heartwarming news on Instagram, “I am so excited to announce that @marth27 and I have joined forces to co-chair our first-ever ‘Hogey’s Home Runners’ team for the PanCAN #PurpleStride Walk in Santa Monica on April 26th! In honor of our TV Dad and #Days most iconic hero @drakehogestyn, Martha and I are committed to walking toward a future without Pancreatic Cancer…and we want you to come along!”
He invited the fans to “Join our team and walk with us (and many other familiar faces) on Saturday, April 26th at the Santa Monica Pier. The event details and registration info is here http://www.purplestride.org/HogeysHomeRunners.” Martsolf also encouraged fans to ‘Swing for the fences,’ which was a favorite saying of Hogestyn’s, explaining that their goal was to reach $50,000, and would benefit, “Research, advocacy and patient services for those currently battling pancreatic cancer.”

Hogey’s Heroes
Martsolf also noted that if a fan couldn’t make the event in LA, there were many others across the country that they could participate in. Legendary DAYS actress Kristian Alfonso (Hope) responded with the simple, “❤️🙏,” with the show’s official page also reacting, “💙💙.” Many fans stated they would be there and lamented the passing of the legendary Hogestyn.
The post included two pictures, the first of which featured shots of Martsolf and Madison above the DAYS 60th anniversary logo and the overlaid text: “Hogey’s Home Runners.” The second snap was a group photo that included Martsolf, Madison, Hogestyn, Deidre Hall (Marlena), Colton Little (Andrew), Christopher Sean (Paul), and the legendary Dick Van Dyke who played John’s long-lost father, Timothy Robicheaux. One fan summed things up with the comment, “This is a great way to remember and honor Drake.”
