Sarah has been going through some interesting times on Days of Our Lives. Between juggling her work at the hospital, co-parenting with Xander after their split, and drifting into something complicated with Brady, she’s been in that familiar soap spot where everything feels half-settled and ready to go sideways. So when Linsey Godfrey popped up online, it was very on brand, as she shared a story that turned a childhood “safety” tape into a full-blown personality reveal.

Key Takeaways

  • Godfrey shared a funny story about a ‘90s Blockbuster “kid safety” tape on Instagram.
  • She revealed she made one, but the tape is now missing.
  • She joked she was “super kidnappable” as a kid.
  • Her mom said kidnappers would return her for being annoying.
  • Godfrey ended by asking fans if they had the same experience.

A Blockbuster Memory That Escalated Quickly

Godfrey posted a video on Instagram with the caption, “Blockbuster.” In the video clip, she launched into a story about a ‘90s-era program where kids were filmed answering questions in case they were ever kidnapped. The video shows her laughing through it, pacing the memory out loud, and building to the punchline about how she took the whole thing very seriously at the time.

“So I’m trying to figure out if this was like a nationwide thing or if this was just… my local Blockbuster thing,” she said, explaining how, in the ’90s, the Blockbuster video store in Stuart, Florida, offered to film kids on tape. The idea was simple and slightly surreal in hindsight: “your kid would stand there… say how tall they were and then they would just ask them a bunch of questions,” so families would have a record “just in case your kid got kidnapped.”

She added, “Like kidnapping is not funny, but this is funny,” summing up the whole tone of the story. But she didn’t just remember it, she participated in it. “So, so I did one,” she said, before getting hung up on the part that still bothers her. “Somewhere there is a tape that exists of me… and I don’t have it.”

The Joke That Tracks A Little Too Well

That missing tape clearly stuck with her more than the experience itself. “I don’t have any tapes of me as a child… there’s just like no videos of me as a child whatsoever,” she said. The actress further admitted that she’s “absolutely upset” and “so livid that this one specifically doesn’t exist,” especially since she’s convinced she looked exactly like her own kid now.

The story really kicked in once the tape was done and her mom weighed in. “We’re driving home, and my mom is like, ‘I don’t even know why I did this. I’m never going to have to use that tape,’” Godfrey recalled. Her response at the time was immediate: “Okay, rude… I’m super kidnappable both by adorableness and size.”

But her mom doubled down with a different take entirely, telling her, “If you ever got kidnapped, they’d bring you back… you would annoy them so quickly.” Godfrey laughed it off now, admitting, “Sure. I mean, she’s not wrong,” before circling back to the question that started it all: “Did anybody else do this?”
