Exclusive Interview: Days of our Lives’ Linsey Godfrey On The Future Of ‘Xarah’

The fallout of Sarah learning that her baby died and she raised Kristen’s daughter for a year continues to play out on Days of our Lives. Watch for Sarah to tell Xander exactly how she feels when he asks for another chance this week. Linsey Godfrey tells us how that goes.

Linsey Godfrey On Sarah’s Pain

It’s nearly impossible for Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) to look past the fact that Xander (Paul Telfer) duped her into thinking that her daughter was really alive. Learning the truth, which includes Xander’s role in the baby switch, is preventing Sarah from trusting the man she once loved.

“I like the idea that Sarah is all ‘Let’s go scorched earth and burn it to the ground,'” Godfrey tells Soap Hub. “I think that’s realistic. It’s been great watching this momentum. Sarah’s not going to just sit there. She’s going to make sure that everyone around her feels what she’s been feeling.”

If Sarah didn’t care about Xander on some level, this wouldn’t hurt as much as it does. She has had to deal with not only the revelation that her daughter died shortly after birth but that the man she loved hid that tragic news from her. Xander, however, recently helped save Maggie’s (Suzanne Rogers) life when he saved her from a suicide attempt. Surely, that fact is not lost on Sarah.

“Of course,” Linsey Godfrey acknowledges. “The thing that upsets Sarah the most [along with losing her baby] is that Xander messed it all up! They had this great thing going on with [mutual] love and support. She’s mad at him. Her feeling is ‘We had it all and you messed it up!'”

While Sarah’s furious with Xander, Godfrey is thrilled that Telfer scored a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his work on Days of our Lives. “I was very happy,” she says. “I’m happy that he’s getting to be recognized for making such a big shift in his character. He’s put a lot of work into it. He doesn’t show up the morning of at work and then learn his lines. He starts working on his scripts as soon as he gets them.

“On a friend level, I’m super-excited Paul was nominated,” Godfrey says. “But as a co-worker and as somebody who respects a good work ethic? I’m [even happier]. That’s Mr. Telfer.”

The Daytime Emmys will be held on Friday, June 26 on CBS at 8 p.m. Days of our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check local listings for air times.
