Here’s a list of the top exit and entrance news from all four daytime dramas. Find out if any of your favorite performers from yesteryear are returning to the shows you follow, or if any new actors or actresses have been cast in contract, recurring, or day player roles.
Days of our Lives
Days of our Lives welcomes sitcom vet star Marla Gibbs (The Jeffersons, 227) as Olivia Price, Paulina’s (Jackée Harry) mother on Monday, August 16. She’ll appear in a few episodes.
Carson Boatman takes over the role of Johnny DiMera on Wednesday, August 18. The character was previously portrayed by Aaron and Griffin Kunitz from 2009 to 2014.
Isabel Durant and Cameron Johnson exit the soap as Claire Brady and Theo Carver on Friday, August 20. Durant has played Claire since 2020, while Johnson returned for his latest stint as Theo on July 2.
It’s also been confirmed that Melissa Reeves will be returning to DAYS as Jennifer Horton Deveraux during the holiday season. Cady McClain had taken over the role of Jennifer on the soap opera, last October when Reeves opted not to commute from Tennessee to California during the COVID-19 pandemic.

General Hospital
General Hospital has finally confirmed that Cameron Mathison will be playing Drew Cain, Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) twin brother, and Sam McCall’s (Kelly Monaco) ex-husband. The actor, best known to daytime audiences for his portrayal of Ryan Lavery on All My Children, premieres this week. Billy Miller originated the role of Drew in 2014 until the character was presumed dead in a plane crash in 2019.
Soap opera news reveals Charles Shaughnessy of The Nanny fame is joining GH in an undisclosed contract role that will debut in September. Shaughnessy previously portrayed Holly’s (Emma Samms) cousin, Alistair Durban, back in 1984. He also played Shane Donovan and Drew Donovan on Days of our Lives.
Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and Sonny Corinthos’s (Maurice Benard) daughter Donna has been aged. Twins Ella and Emma Hulen, who shared the duties of baby Donna, are out, and Ava Rose is in as the new toddler.
Gigi Bermingham wrapped up her quick gig as Naomi Berlin, Hayden Barnes’s (Rebecca Budig) mother. The character was murdered.
The Young and the Restless
Melissa Claire Egan, who had reportedly left The Young and the Restless on maternity leave in July, wasn’t completely done filming. She’d been occasionally popping in at the studio to film some quick Chelsea check-ins. The actress is now officially done, having posted a photo of herself on Twitter on August 11 with the message, “Last work selfie for a while!”
Elizabeth Leiner has wrapped up her run as Tara Locke, a role she began playing in March. Her character was last seen being carted off in handcuffs for tax evasion. Please note that air dates may be subject to change.
