Sami Brady DiMera and EJ DiMera’s only son, Johnny DiMera, is returning to the Days of our Lives fold. He’s all grown up, having departed Salem as a child, which essentially makes him a brand new character. And, as such, viewers will have to learn all about the mysterious young man.

What makes him tick? Is he a valiant good guy or a bad boy with an edge? Given Johnny’s background, lavish lifestyle, and family ties, here’s what fans should expect from the new Days of our Lives DiMera.
Hero or Heel?
Sami’s (Alison Sweeney) already got two grown kids who are good, Will Horton (Chandler Massey) and Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold), both fathered by Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo). Based on that and the fact that Johnny (Carson Boatman) was sired by EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) and is Stefano DiMera’s grandson, odds are Sami’s third child won’t be cast in the same kindly, above-board mold.
As the son of two of Days of our Lives master manipulators, Johnny’s likely to follow down a more devious path. He’s sure to have a sneaky deceitful side, one that rears its ugly head when there’s no other way to get what he wants. And you can bet he’ll be an A-plus schemer, considering he learned from the best – his parents.

While Johnny’s sister, Allie, is about to embark on running a local bakery, don’t expect him to turn to blue-collar employment. Johnny’s destined for bigger and better things, like a job beside his father and uncles Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) and Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) at DiMera Enterprises.

EJ will want to groom his son to one day take over the family business. So odds are he’ll find a spot for Johnny within the company. Plus, EJ could use his son to spy on Chad, his co-CEO, in an effort to eventually wrangle full control of the organization.
Man About Town
Who will Johnny be paired with romantically on Days of our Lives? At the moment, Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) seems to be the only one in town in his age bracket. Considering she’s got a crush on his sister Allie, any pursuit of her would provide great drama for the two siblings.
Of course, the soap could cast a newcomer to get involved with Johnny – maybe a long-lost sister of Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) or a distant cousin of Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker). Or an entirely different scenario could be explored, like Johnny falling for an older woman. Maybe he could insert himself in the sure-to-be-developing Nicole-Ava-Rafe (Galen Gering) triangle, knowing whichever woman Rafe casts off could end up in his arms.
