Dominic Zamprogna — A Biography
Dominic Zamprogna was born in Hamilton, Ontario. His parents, Lou and Pauline Zamprogna, were professional dancers and choreographers who had opened a dance studio and acting school called the Aquarius Theater. Dominic took dance there and was proficient at ballet, jazz, and tap, but in his heart, he longed to be an actor.
He began booking roles as early as age 11, landing the role of Chris Brandon on FX/2 and Terry on the TV series Counterstrike. Dominic followed that up with two TV movies, Wojeck: Out of the Fire and The Trial of Red Riding Hood.
The rest of the 90s landed credits such as Are You Afraid of the Dark?, The NeverEnding Story, Fight For Justice: The Nancy Conn Story, Iron Eagle IV, Ready or Night, The Boys Club, The Book of Jamie G, Kung Fu: The Legend Continues, Wind At My Back, and Tales from the Cryptkeeper.
2001 was a whirlwind. Dominic Zamprogna landed the role of Mark Deosdade on the show Edgemont, where he met his future wife Linda Leslie. He booked 3 movies: Come l’America, Dying to Dance (with Kimberly McCullough and Rick Springfield), and Danger Beneath The Sea. And he made two guest appearances on the TV series MythQuest and Leap Years.
While working on Edgemont, Dominic landed other appearances on TV series and movies such as Odyssey 5, Drummer Boy, Da Vinci’s Inquest, Touching Evil, Meltdown, Stargate: Atlantis, Cold Squad, True Calling, Bloodsuckers, It Waits, and The Engagement Ring.
In 2006, Zamprogna found himself working double duty on Battlestar Galactica and Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance as Jammer, and still landing guest gigs and starring roles on Supernatural, Engaged to Kill, Deadly Skies, and Blade: The Series.
After Battlestar wrapped up, Dominic Zamprogna had a little breather. The production schedule was steady but not overwhelming. He booked gigs such as A Valentine Carol, Painkiller Jane, Bionic Woman, Flash Gordon, The Border, and Cutting for Stone before he signed on to play the recurring roles of Greg/Jim on The “L” Word.
The pace sped up again in 2009 as Dominic added credits Smallville, Hostile Takeover, 2012, and SGU Stargate Universe before he landed the dream role of Dante Falconeri on General Hospital.
As a police officer in Port Charles and son of the resident mob boss, Sonny Corinthos, Dom’s character Dante has gone toe-to-toe with daytime legends such as Maurice Benard, Genie Francis, Nancy Lee Grahn, Kin Shriner, and Anthony Geary on a regular basis. Zamprogna has garnered four Daytime Emmy nominations for the role.
Dominic Zamprogna resides in Los Angeles with his wife Linda and three lovely daughters, Anbilliene, Eliana, and Adeline. Follow the actor on Twitter and Instagram.
