With soap production shut down since March, our favorite stars have been home like so many of us due to the coronavirus pandemic. General Hospital star Steve Burton has used this time to reflect and create — and he tells Soap Hub all about it in this exclusive chat.
What have you learned about yourself these past few months during lockdown?
Actually, there’s a few things. You know why? I’m a pretty driven person, just in general. Whenever this quarantine ends, I wanted to come out a better person. I’m working out more, and mentally I feel good. Also, to keep busy, I have kept my schedule – I get up, work out, I shower, and I get dressed for the day. I do my work and I just treat it like another day. So, for me, it’s been great.
And, of course, the beach is always my lifesaver. I’ve been going to the beach three or four times a week. And, we’ve been going as a family three or four nights a week. So yeah, the beach has been huge for us. We’ve homeschooled our kids for a long time, so that was fairly easy.
The other thing was, I just wanted to take the time to become better at something, I knew that at some point, this will pass and I didn’t want to just sit around – I wanted to develop a skill that I hadn’t had. So, Bradford, who has been a life saver, and I launched our YouTube channel, and we already have a bunch of Seven Questions episodes. That’s really what my focus has been on.
How did you come up with the idea about your new Bad Jokes series?
I saw Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell do something similar a couple of years ago, just sitting across the table telling from each other, telling dumb jokes and trying not to laugh. So I was thinking “hey, this is something we can do!” So, we gave it a shot, and it ended up being very funny – and, most importantly, people seem to love it. So now, episode two is coming out.
And, Seven Questions is getting a lot of traction, so that’s cool. I really have fun with the show – just asking celebrities funny questions. And it’s been great to smile and laugh and bring that to other people, especially during these times.
